Run the cooking oil through a filter, heat it up to burn off the impurities, and mix it with 10-15% with standard fuel.

You can mix Straight Vegetable Oil (SVO) with diesel fuel at the rate of 10-20% or you can convert Waste Vegetable Oil (WVO) to Bio-diesel using a commercial unit ---costing around £1K. This will produce around 40 L per day. ....but look out for the revenue man

It is my understanding that to clean the cooking oil all that must be done is to filter out the food particles.

But, to use it as fuel the engine must be modified in some way.

use the oil first. then strain it and stick it in an empty diesel
