Christmas was created in 320CE, Mithraism was very popular at this time.
The early Christian church had gotten tired of their futile efforts to stop people celebrating the solstice and the birthday of Mithras, the Persian sun god.
Mithras’ birthday was December 25.
So, fourth century Pope Julius I dedicated December 25th as the birthday of Jesus Christ, making Jesus’ official birthday coincide with Mithras’ birthday.
so seeing it was created by a pope, unless yer catholic, i have no idea why you would follow the popes orders and celibrate it on that day.
but i cant agree with santa either....
I'll never set up that lie in my son's head. What's the point? Isn't better for him to know that he is receiving presents from his parents and relatives than receiving a lie that says they came from some old bearded guy and his magical elves who live in the Arctic?
The parallel is undeniable between Santa and the Christian god and this is why I feel it's a dangerous lie for a parent to tell.
Santa is supposed to be loving and kind.
The Christian god is supposed to be loving and kind.
Santa is supposed to reward you with gifts if you've been good.
The Christian god is supposed to admit you to heaven if you've been good.
Santa is supposed to punish you for being bad with a lump of coal for a present.
The Christian god is supposed to burn you like a lump of coal for being bad.
If you write Santa a letter then he is supposed to give you what's on your wish list.
If you pray to the Christian god he's supposed to give you what you wish for.
The belief in Santa is a gateway belief; it’s a primer to get the child’s mind ready to accept the bigger lie that follows.... gods.
I wish the bible thumper would read only one line from their books….Thou shall not bear false witness.
None of them seen him, yet they all claim to and tell you about it…hence false witness
By telling our children the truth, we can’t go wrong. After all, isn’t honesty the best policy?

HI
Well the story of Christmas has its flaws like Jesus wasn't born in the winter and a few things like that and the tree is actually a pagan ritual started by Nimrod so it has to be your conscious that makes the decision. Santa was actually a bad guy who punished bad children and rewarded good. And what if your kid gets beat up defending Santa to someone who knows the truth and then is humiliated when they find out and your child gets mad at you. Why don't you research Christmas and then decide for yourself.

Yes it is. You know Santa is a lie. So why lie to you child. Will you not develop a mistrust between you and your child? Yes you will.
Also why not research the celebration of birthdays and the christmas holiday. You will find it quite disturbing and it has nothing to do with the bible. Actually it is something that God does not approve of. But you check the bible for yourself.

It's not entirely wrong considering our parents trained us for this. Of course, it is lying. You should tell them about Jesus and the true meaning of Christmas first. My parents had us grow up believing in Santa Claus, but also informed us it has nothing to do with the son of GOD. They explained how Santa was a man who loved to give toys to children and wasn't allowed (kinda like Santa Claus is Coming to Town). Me and my children always wish Jesus Happy Birthday on Christmas morning (even though it's not his exact birthday). My children also know about the wise men bringing "gifts" to Jesus when he was born, so they relate that to the giving of gifts part. Every parent should make an idividual choice about Santa Claus. I'm glad that I believed when I was young. I can still remember the fun it was just wondering how in the world those raindeer didn't fall off the roof. Take care and GOD bless.

My child is grown and on her own, but I tell my Grandchildren of Gods love and mercy and that NO present in the world can match the gift of Salvation given freely and paid for us in full by Christ by His shed blood on Calvary. They KNOW there is NO Santa Clause, BUT THEY KNOW there IS A Christ, the Only Begotten Son of the Most high God, ruler of heaven and earth and everything in between.

Yes, it is wrong. As a parent you need to set a good example for your children. You teach your children that it is wrong to lie to others and to you, so how can you lie to them about anything? Lying is one of the things God hates, so never do you want to do something that God despises, for it could ruin your relationship with him.(PROVERBS 6:16-19) Your children may lose their respect for you when they learn the truth. Honesty really is the best policy.

Honestly, after growing up being told lies about a magic fat man that brings presents Through the chimney once a year, I'm surprised kids still grow up believing in god. It's EXACTLY the same kind of lie, just on a much larger scale.

I think telling your children lies invalidates other information you tell them later on in life, particularly when they vehemently defend the lie with their friends due to their faith in your knowledge and are shattered and humiliated at some point.
