a off duty police officer decided to ignore the advice of the news and shot his loaded gun over a house with a family in it, he did get in trouble he got suspended with pay. why do they always get suspended "with pay"? that is not trouble to me. Just suspended him. How was he protecting and serving when he is breaking the law?

Please the police all ready think they are above the law and as long as we continue to punish them with pay they are never going to change their behavior.

neither of these guns are legal ion the force and instead of over the house he actually shoot throught the front door. Those are SWAT team weapons not weapons for a peon.

This isn't the end of the story, just somewhere in the middle. He was suspended with pay as an initial action until they complete their internal investigation. Once they complete their investigation, it sounds like he should be punished. That is a normal procedure in the law enforcement community. I'm sorry they didn't hang the officer right there for you, but even police are entitled to due process.

Suspended with pay?
It is called, "innocent until proven guilty". Even police officers are allowed this basic right, Imagine that!
But you are right, every police officer ACCUSED of any crime should be automatically fired. Why wait for proof? While we are at it we should also take away their right to vote and make them pay back all of their salary.****
***above must be spoken in a very sarcastic tone of voice.
Here in Canada, a majority of the people arrested and charged with offences get released on bail pending trial, especially if they have no criminal record. Why wouldn't a police officer?

Being suspended with pay may not seem like a punishment to us, but it is on his record and may affect his promotions in the future. Good question though. I want to know where all those bullets go when you see all those people in the middle east firing into the sky like it is nothing.

Not all police are idiots. There are only a handfull of these people that seem to think they are "ABOVE THE LAW"., which has made all of the rest of us over the years look bad. He should not have gooten his pay while he was off on suspension, period.

Because the police dept is corrupt from top to bottom. He should be put in jail, You would have been if you did that. These guys think they are above the law. The State Troopers are the class of law enforcement. All city police dept. should be dismantled and the State Troopers should take over.
