You might want to consider insuring the laptop separately. You can do a web search for "laptop insurance", but I have placed a couple of random hits as links below. I have not personally used the services of these, so I am in no way reccomending them.

The best and most comprehensive way to cover the laptop is to either add it to your home or business policy as an All Risk item. you will find the cover more extensive and worldwide. If you don't hold home insurance add it to your parents policy usually at about £3.00 per £100 insured. If you manage to find an insurance policy for travel that will cover it and you suffer a loss they will more than likely pursue any household or business policy anyway for part payment under subrogation rights and you could lose the bonus on this policy anyway. Finally if you add all risks unspecified to your home policy you can then remove personal belongings from your travel insurance and save up to 20% on your travel policy.

You should check your home insurance policy as it may already cover your laptop while you're travelling... Or you might be able to add it to the policy/
