My aunt has extremely dry skin. It is dry all year round but in the winter time it is of course much worse. She went to several dermatologists over the years and has been given many prescriptions. Some of them did nothing for her and some helped a little. Three years ago she visited an Amish community. While she was there she bought home made soap. It is made basically with Lye and fat. She used it and it cleared up her dry skin. She calls it "miracle soap". She also is prone to poison ivy and it is so excessive that she has ended up in the hospital. She contracted poison ivy last summer and it was minimal. I'm certain because of her normal use of the soap. The home made "miracle soap" cleared it right up. I don't know how close you are to an Amish community or if you can buy it on line but I would definitely give it a try. Her last dermatologist was flabbergasted at the results! His secretary uses it regularly now because of eczema. She says it's the only thing that works well. That should tell you something. Good luck and God bless!

Use an exfoliant. A good body exfoliant is sea salt. After showering, step out of the water and scoop up about 1 tablespoon of sea salt and rub on your skin until the salt is dissolved. This removes all the dead skin. Do this to each arm then each leg then wherever else you need to exfoliat. Then rinse well. While still in the shower or tub take a drop or two of baby oil and rub on each wet arm/leg. This will help hold the moisture in. Or, you may use a deep moisturizer. But, be sure to moisturize within 3 minutes. If it's longer than that use a spray bottle to spritz water on your body before using the moisturizer.
