....then do muslims believe that women's bodies are the work of Satan? Is that why muslim women are so ashamed of their bodies and muslim men are so ashamed of their sexual desires?

I think one of the answerers is muslim. He looks muslim and he certainly sounds muslim to me. Being a heterosexual westerner I can pick up on these vibes.

readkoran....Your naieve view of women's sexuality would only make sense if women grew up in a culture which infantalized them and cut their clits off at an early age. Their breasts might also need to be ironed. Forgive me but I wouldn't equate any such mutiliated muslim woman with a beautiful precious jewel.

Widsu...I don't respect you. I am openly hostile to your culture and it's values. To me a genuinely mature female feels confident in expressing herself fully as a woman. To completely hide your physical feminity is to be infantile in my opinion. It is a rejection of your mature body. If you embraced western values then you would find that it's perfectly possible to be a sexual being and have a phD. Western men make this possible for women because western men on the whole reject Islam.

and to clarify....muslim men are apparently so ashamed of their sexuality that they can't bear to allow the possibility of getting aroused by seeing a bit of cleavage or thigh, or even an uncovered head on a woman.

No mustafa. I'm going to continue to challenge the biggest threat to civilization since the Nazis. I'm talking about the culture that stones women to death in pits and mutilates the genitalia of little girls.

It's dumb. Cause men's bodies are temptation for women. They don't address that.

Islam has given the woman what is appropriate for her female nature. It gives her full security and protects her against becoming what Western modern women themselves complain about: a "mere sex object."

Have you seen the Jewel? Why is it that the people love it while it is simply a piece of stone? It is because it is not so easy to see it, nor can you touch it except by paying an exorbitant price. Similar is the case of the woman – it is forbidden for a man to see her or touch her, in order that he does not dishonor her. She is like an untouched (pure) jewel, which is affected by the least touch

Islam does not approve of intimate mixing of the sexes, and forbids premarital or extramarital sex. Islam encourages marriage as a shield to such temptations and as a means of having mutual love, mercy and peace

I am sorry that you are soo mis-informed.I am a western muslim women who even with the dismay of my family chose to wear a hijab and cover up and I love it.
First of all its a relationship between me and God.I believe in the Quran and its message.Islam doesnt shame me it liberates me and empowers me..
There is more to a women then her body and her looks as a PhD in forensic psychology ,with all the problems that younge girls, and reluctantly ageing women go threw ; covering up does force her and everyone else to look further then their superficial first impressions.
If anyone wanted to enjoy my physical appearance then the bar is high because I am worth more then a cat call or a little attention ;it requires a life time commitment..
Actually on the contrary a muslim women does not need outside reinforcments to feel good about herself..A women covering up just shows her pride and strength.

I dont seem to understand what you mean when you say muslim men are ashamed of their sexuality. Is it because they lower their gaze at women as opposed to stareing at them. Or is it that they dont sleep around?I cant seem to understand that assumption please carify.
I am sorry that you dont understand us but I want you to know that I am and most muslim women are proud women who cover up at our own free will ...

No, God created women very beautiful, but He wants men to control their desire to have all of them. Women in Islam are not at all ashamed of their bodies, nor are men ashamed of their sexual desires. Where did you get that silly info from?

EDIT: wow i just read your additional comments and am amazed at the height of your ignorance AND arrogance towards Muslims. You've choosen to make up lies and believe your own filth therefore demonstrating what a jerk you really are. I hope you burn in hell loser. Are you going to go crying to yahoo now because someone is showing you a mirror of how filthy your persona really is?

First, your question is not sincere-it is trying to cause trouble.

Second, Muslims believe that the woman's body is beautiful, and it is not the work of the Satan. What wrongs a man may want to do to that body is the work of the Satan.
