Yeah, it's pretty time consuming and very hardwork from what i hear but if it's what you enjoy doing then I say you should go for it. A friend of mine has been doing it for years and she makes a nice living. She chooses her own schedule and always takes time off when she wants to be with her kids. Plus, she gets to meet a lot of new people and be a part of someone's happiness on the most important day of their lives. She says she wouldn't change her career for anything, and honestly she seems to be very happy. Good Luck

I plan all of the weddings for the country club I own. If I were you, I would first try to get into an establishment that hosts weddings and learn the business from the bottom up. (You will probably have to start as a waitress).
Once you get experience in the food service side and understand the timing of events, you will have a better understanding of the level of detailed planning that goes into a wedding.
From having that experience, you can then tout some credentials and experience which would make you a more likely choice as a wedding planner. Be prepared to work your buns off....I do! Good luck!!

I'd love to do this for a career. If it's you looking to do it, why don't you look at the websites of large hotels to see if they have any vacancies. I think there is money to be made but do you want to go and start up on your own without much experience? You could get into lots of difficult situations, at least if you've worked in a hotel doing the same thing before you'll have the experience and perhaps contacts... Good luck - what a brilliant job!

Yes you could have a career in this field...
Not got any advice on how to go about it, other than reading a profile of a wedding planner in a bridal magazine, and she had started out working in bridal shops, then set up her own business from experience learnt working they, and contacts that she had gained.
Good luck in it babes x

yes you can but you need a lot of experience it is fun but really hard work if you have planned a weding then you know who stressful it can be. wel multiply that by 100 as you may be doing two or three weddings at one time if not more than that. you need to build up a portfolio of clients and contacts for businessess and have a good bit of capital to put into it. a good business plan is essential. good luck

Yes definitely but you would have to have a real flair for it. I got married last year and we planned it ourselves. I personally wouldnt have used a wedding planner because i had the time and inclination to do it myself.
