i attended a very important event and i took several "once in a lifetime" photos but when i returned home and i routinely tried to transfer the pictures onto my computer the camera began to read card error and it did not show that i had my pictures on the card. all of the pictures had been formated and they had been protected before and after taken. the computer will not read my pictures and has quote possibly deleted themm..
why has this happened?
what can i do about it?
and most importantly is their some sort of technology in this world that can restore any sort of lost or deleted image files.

You can try a file recovery program, they cost but you can download trial versions that will at least show whether the images can be salvaged. A program called "Recover My Files" has worked for me in the past.

There are different things that can go wrong with the camera and the card, so it will depend on what happened as to whether the photos can be recovered or not.

Take out memory card from your digital camera, cellphone, android phone or tablet device, usb drive, thumb drive, digital recorder or protable drive, and insert it into a usb card reader, or computer card reader slot if there's any on your computer. You can then download flash memory card photo recovery software to recover lost images from all memory cards such as xD, Comapct Flash CF card, SD card, microSD, Sd mini.

The memory card picture recovery is able to recover all kinds of photos including png, jpg, gif, jpeg, tiff, tif and raw images.

However, to increase chance of memory card photo recovery, you should stop using the memory card and prevent new files to be written to the memory card. This is because that the space of deleted photos are free for any new files now. So the space may get overwritten by new files which will make deleted pics unrecoverable.
