Why can't xians get it through their dense skulls that if they attack someone elses beliefs they are pushing people away and making them detest xians?

Personally, I've seen bashing from a lot of different people, and bashing about a lot of different religions.

But there's bashing, and then there's bashing.

I guess that there are Christians here who don't consider it "bashing" to tell Pagans that they are "really" worshiping the "devil"..

I consider it simply a display of immense ignorance, but I do recognize the uncharitable intent behind it, and I agree that if those who do such things think about the probable consequences of what they do, they might decide to clam up about it.

MOST Pagans have a very tolerant and accepting view of all other religions. But everyone has a breaking point.

I really don't think that it serves Christians well to say such things, because the probable outcome will be that otherwise accepting Pagans will develop a VERY bad opinion of Christians.

This scenario can be applied across the board....

you are totally right. Only Christians attack other beliefs. I will try to get it through my "dense skull" that I should be more like you.

btw- I have no issue with anyone elses beliefs, but if I feel tempted to "bash" I will think back on this post. You have changes my life.

It's not just Christians, it's nearly all religions. Religion, like nationalism, reinforces an us vs. them tribal meme. True believers are singled out for special consideration from their god while the infidels and apostates are doomed to death, either here or in the afterlife.

And this tribal meme applies still as we drill down to more local levels. Christians hate Muslims, and vice versa. Baptists hate Catholics. Liberal baptists hate evangelical baptists. This church hates that church.

Not all Christians are like that. It's really only a small, but very vocal, minority. Christians are like any other group of people in that, yes, there are some bad ones, but there are far more good ones than bad.

the only answer that I can think of is:
If a person truly loves something/ Someone they want to share it with others so they are excited and want everyone to feel the same way, so they try to make others see things there way.
I consider myself to be a spiritual person ( I believe in GOD and the holy scriptures ) and in so I believe God gave us a free will to believe what we feel is right, So I will not try to change your beliefs if you do not try to change mine ( I know in whom I believe ) so if Your God Is Jesus Christ, alah, buddah, satan, etc etc... Then I hope who ever is right preys for the others

Good question. I've personally been nose-to-nose with a very radical, intense, far-right minister, but not over the matter of other religions. The point is, these people are absolutely convinced that they are right, that their path is the ONLY path to "salvation," and all others are wrong and confused.

In other words, some radical Christians are every bit as troublesome as any Muslim.

Because with most Fundies, their psyche's will not allow for a difference of opinion. For them to feel good about themselves it must be either their way of you go to hell. Not all Christians are that head blind, just the sheeple.

In truth, it is Fundies from all religions as well as non-religious zealots that are the worlds problem. Anytime you take a world view that `Only your group knows who "God" is and how to get to "God" and that the rest are liars, and idol worshipers, it makes you out to be a Rectal Orifice.

Peace upon those who wish to live in peace, and for the rest, they'll always have Tara.

Actually, many Christians would take offense to you referencing them as xians. The irony here is that you ask why the bash others, when you yourself have just bashed them.
