I need to know if it is possible to buy a new computer and do a factory re-install with the discs from my previous computer. I realize that this sounds strange but the reason is that I live in Italy and finding a computer with Windows in English is proving very difficult. So, I wanted to buy a computer, which will of course have the Italian Windows installed, and then do a re-install with the discs from my current (American) computer. I hope that this makes sense. Thank you very much.

You certainly can, regardless of whther its an oem copy or not you have a purchased copy of windows and as long as it is only running on 1 pc then according to the EULA you can install it on any pc....now according to the agreements from computer manufacturers (the oem licensee) they are supposed to label their recovery discs as "only to be used to reinstall on (manufactures name) computer". As long as you decline the EULA from the Itallion version you can then reformat and install with your English copy, and since most oem copies will only do a destructive install anyways, there's really nothing to worry about.
Denying, or not accepting the EULA from the Itallian copy will cause the software to stop installing and therefore you have, essentially, a raw computer with nothing on it....pretty much like if you got a new hard drive for the existing pc.

Yes It Is Possable But Because Of Licensing You have to Uninstall it From Your Old Computer Or You can Just Install It On The New Computer And Not Activate It But You Will Only be Be Able To Use It For 30 Days Or You could Do Somthing That Is Not Legal You Could Call Microsoft And Have Then Give You Another License But What I Would Suggest Doing Is Going To A Computer Store Like Bestbuy Or Somthing And For $100-$200 Buy A New License

yes you can because basically you are installing it onto your hard drive

BUT

The italian computer may have on it, the drivers specific for the computer hard ware -

so if you install your old OS on to the computer then you may not have the relevant drives

The second problem that you have will have - when you first installed your windows onto your original system you would have had to register it - when you registered it microsoft would have created a unique HASH key that corresponds to you computer hardware configuration - so if you use this disk and try to register it will say that either the key is wrong or it is already registered.

(One way round this would be to call MS and say you have changed 3 major components within the computer - and then they will re-register and create a new HASH Key)

Good Luck

man it is simply great and u will be facing no problems in that
u can go two ways
1) ask the persons to reinstall the windows from whom u are buying or
2) get the computer as it is and reinstall windows urself its pretty easy and easily approachable
if u are using windows xp u can easily transfer ur settings and all those kind of stuff easily to new computer by using the settings and file transfer wizard at the start>acesseries>settings transfer
its a great tool if u wish to have it
and man ur problem is a no problem go easy

You can also get a languange pac. But XP legally cannot be transferred to another PC unless you contact them and deal with it.

It depends very much on whether these are OEM disks from a company such as Dell or if they are legitimate Microsoft product disks. If they are, you can do it.

Yes you can do it technically. There are no technical problems in doing so. I do not know about the license issues.
