All of God's miracles were for the purpose of showing that God is God and to verify His prophets.
God has left His witness in the written word and His power is now by the Holy Spirit working within us. God still can and does miracles to day but He does not do them as a stage act but as a verification of His word.

Miracles do not happen often anymore, due to the completion of the Word of God. People in biblical times (especially Jewish people) demanded a sign to show them the power of the Almighty God. Due to this, God showed His people, and other people, signs and wonders to prove His existence. These miracles lasted until the times of the apostles (the first century church) and stopped after the book of Revelation was completed. Without going into detail, a major proof of this is in I Corinthians 13:1-13 (specifically 8-13).
Sadly, many of the "miracles" and "signs" performed by television evangelists and the like are fake and have been proven to be so, but God still works in miraculous ways! The largest miracle performed today is one that has always existed, the miracle of a changed life; and this is the greatest proof of God's existence! The Word of God is the means by which Man can have this changed life, and it does its own work in Man's heart (Hebrews 4:12), which is another miracle. Hope this helps!

Since you brought up that specific miracle, I will restrict my answer to the one incidence. If you look at the miracles performed by Moses, you will see that each of them (and the 10 plagues count as miracles) was designed to deal specifically with one of the major gods of Egypt. There was more involved in the miracles then just freeing the Israelite slaves from physical bondage. There was presenting before them - and the rest of the unknown world as Egypt was the "super-power" of its day - the superiority of God over the Egyptian beliefs.
The serpent was one of the major deities of Egypt. So it is not surprising that the Egyptian priest had a way to "materialize" snakes. Whether is was real or not is another question. Look at all the things people like David Copperfield and Chris Angel are doing today in the way of illusions. Most with no special technology - just simple misdirection and slight of hand. Nothing in scriptures says that the Egyptian priest did not do the same.
The important part of the story was not HOW the priest produced their snakes, but rather that Moses' was superior to theirs. The Bible does indicate that his was real, devoured the others, and then returned to stave. After that, the same miracle was never repeated because it was never again needed. It had accomplished its purpose. In the end, the Israelites when free, and the rest of history was left with an example of God's power.
Same with the "water to wine". It was a one time in scripture event, designed for a specific need. Like many of the miracles of the Bible, they are not routinely repeated. Otherwise, they would not be "miracles".
Are there miracles shown "on TV". Yes. Tune in some of the religious shows some time and you will see healings and other miracles documented on them regularly. But Bible miracles are not "showmanship". God does not do them use to "show off". He does them to meet a need. And that happens all the time.
If you want to see such miracles, find yourself a good church and hook in. They happen all the time. At mine, we have reports every week of miracles God has performed, and witness them regularly during our services. But if you want to see them, you have to go where they are happening.

If Evolution is literally true then why aren't people growing a third arm?
If you would like to formulate a scientific disproof of miracles, then the belief that miracles cannot occur (the belief that the material world is an absolute) is based on the tautology 1=1.
So all you have to do to prove God does not and cannot exist is to prove 1. But since time, matter, and space are all infinitely divisible, it cannot be done.
There may come a day when scientific advancement allows us to turn water into wine. So, would that prove God exists?

because if you remember Moses didnt have the power to do it.
But the pharoh's magicians had the knowledge to do it.
Thus exposing their Wickedness. it is a crime in my opinion to KEEP HIDDEN knowledge from the just and true. if it could destroy the wickedness all around.
just as the prophet said that a lack of knowledge people die. So is it true that because knowledge is withhed that Evil has so much more Power.
How can i say this. One man says it allowed that men can have the power of God, but it is also written that God will fight our battles for us for those that BELIEVE, jesus himself said he Had NO Power. but he claimed to have virture instead.
virtue that can be recharged and discharged at the same time from the touch of single unclean woman.
There are two that claim to be god, one is an imposter and a liar, the other is Legally Ordained and chosen. Which one would you follow to have to get a stave to turn into a snake?

God is the initiator and the power behind any miracle. No human being can performed any miracle out of his own free will. Moses or any other person must be led and empowered by God to do it. Go to a gospel meeting where an anointed minister of God is preaching and you will see the miracles that God will perform through that servant of God. I must add that servants of the devil can also counterfeit miracles up to a certain degree. For example Moses' snake ate up all the snakes conjured up by the majicians of Egypt.

It is said that the great library at Alexandria held the knowledge of the ancient world. People (including Magi and what we would call Sorcerers) would travel from all over the world to study the scrolls kept there. But once the Christians became a force to be reckoned with, they burned it to the ground. I wonder what secrets may have been lost.

Maybe you've noticed that today's "miracles" and prayer answers could also be completely explained by science, willful deception, or simple coincidence.
The answer is no one could ever do them.
Otherwise prayers would be granted every day with "true" believers having the faith of a mustard seed.
Choose reality.

The genuineness of the Bible doesn't rest on the ability to perform signs & wonders. Deal with the real issues of the text - like the salvation of your soul.
