Are people really superstitious about 666?

I used to go through a drive thru every morning for breakfast. The first time I did it, my order came to exactly $6.66. For months after that, I would order the same thing, and when the cashier would say, "Six sixty six, please", I would respond with the most evil laugh I could stir up. "BWAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!"

True story:
Several years ago, I ordered a birthday cake from a local chain grocery store. Things were fine until my phone number, which ended in ---9666. The clerk, a middle-aged woman, who was taking my order refused to finish, said I was a mark of the beast, and left me standing at the counter!

I got a manager to complete my order, and the cake was made and delivered without further incident.

I did tell the manager what had happened, and I never saw that particular bakery employee again, so I don't know if she was fired over the incident, or if that was just coincidence. (Or maybe my beastly self scared her so bad she could never work again)

So at least a few people are really superstitious about 666!

in modern day, its not so much as "superstitious" as it is they just don't wanna rock the boat, just in case, lol.
I don't believe that walking under a ladder will cause great harm, but I still avoid it. If my purchase comes up to 666 at a store, I do have a tendency to add a pack of gum to change it. lol. But I don't really believe the number means impending doom.

People are superstitious about many things, but a superstition is only recognised as such by people who do not share that particular superstition. To those who believe it, it is not a superstition. Before we start laughing at other's superstitions, let us examine ourselves and see if we also hold beliefs that others consider superstitious.
