The best way to improve confidence is to go out and talk to strangers.
I did this myself.
Just go to bars or whatever and talk to random women. If you're not looking to pick them up, they're usually friendly! It's all in familiarity, and that only comes with real practice. Just saying stuff to yourself isn't enough, no amount of psyching up will prepare you fully.

As a side note, the best way to invite somone out in this situation is to invite her to an event, be it drinks after work in a group, a house warming party, going paintballing, whatever! This is how I always follow up when I get phone numbers, I call up and say "oh yeah I'm doing x this weekend, ah it's going to be so good, you should come". This is good because even if you get a no or an excuse, after the event you can recite how much fun it was in a "you missed out" teasing way. It works.
Good luck, enjoy it all!

Just b urself, women r no different to if u was talkin to a male or a friend, jus b polite and thats all. dnt b nervous jus because they are a female dnt think of them as a female but any normal person and soon u will get over ur fear. All any1 can ask is to b urself and im sure u will do fine, xx

Hey,
lol :D Don't worry, I'm sure the girl is just as scared as you are. Just realize that you are not alone in this and that every1 gets scared and insecure. Just move past your insecurities and realize that if she doesn't want to go out with you than its not meant to be, but if you never ask her out you'll beat yourself up wanting to know if she would have said "yes." I guess there is no true way to get over it, just move past it and think of how she must be feeling. Girls are so much more insecure than guys, so you are lukki. lol :D Good Luck! ;)

Just try to remember everything that's cool about you that you have to offer. We all can get nervous at times, but the more you push yourself to actually say hi to different women and value yourself, others will pick up on that as well.

it may be becoz u think ur not suitable to her, that is makin you nervous. so sort out the things that makes you think that she may reject and work on that. so just have self confidence within you, becoz she is not the only one. jus give a try

easy just instead of thinking you have to date a girl just approach her like you would a friend. give yourself targets like, after talking to her today I want to know where she works or whats her favourate drink. eventually you'll become friends and the rest should just happen if it is supposed to be. worse case scenario you just made a new friend!

Ask her out, you have nothing to lose and everything to gain. She may be feeling the same as you are.

Would it be easier to do it by email? try that, it may help build your confidence to do it face to face.
