Yes, you old farts its 55 Mph on dirt roads or unmarked rural roads in Michigan. Elswhere I dont know but here in Michigan its 55 Mph and no one seems to know this. This is dangerous for people to not know the laws. Then they won't let you pass which is also illegal. IT IS ILLEGAL TO SPEED UP WHEN SOMEONE IS TRYNG TO PASS YOU ALSO!! Shouldn't drivers Ed be like a 2 semester class in High school or something. These roads are getting dangerous with so many people unaware of the laws. No one seems to use thier speedometers or cruise control. I think if everyone used thier cruise control or drove at a constant speed we would all get better gas mileage. Take your heads out of your butts people and if that pisses you off than your one of them who seems to think if you pay your taxes you own the road. Driving is a privledge!!!

Thats true my generation had intellivision or Nintendo and nothing like games out now. It still seems to be old farts though. they seem to own the road. With so many people on the roads now we all have to work together and it should be expected of you to travel at the speed limit. I am not upset at any single incident but rather this is a important topic that needs to be addressed ASAP The roads are filling up

Sure its a limit but I have the right to drive at that limit so if you feel unsafe doing the limit then get out of the way. It is illegal to now allow someone else to pass. So if anyone is concerned about their safety then they should allow the other to pass. It does not say any speed limit, my concern is since it does not say a speed limit most think its 25 when rural dirt roads are 55 mph. Those who do not know the law or who are ignorant are creating a safety problem.

It may be 55MPH but you also have to realize that you should be driving at a speed that is safe for the conditions. You should probably be driving slower offroad than you would on an unmarked paved highway. Cruise control don't make a difference either, the speed limit may say 65 but that don't stop someone from setting their cruise control at say 80MPH. I'm an offroader and have seen the outcomes of people trying to drive too fast for the road conditions. For example people that pass me on the highway in the snow and I pass them 2 miles down the road as their car is upside down in a ditch, I don't bother stopping for these people as that was their decision to continue driving the posted speed limit. If anything I roll down my window and laugh and point as I drive by. I agree with you 100% on driver's ed being lengthened. Also I think that kids should have to drive with their parents for a year before being turned loose with a car. I taught my 16 year old brother to drive, and when he enrolled in driver's ed and finished driver's ed I still at least rode in the vehicle with him until he felt completely comfortable driving. On occasion when the weather is really bad he has me drive him to where he needs to go just because he don't feel comfortable driving. Even though I'm an offroader I still obey the speedlimits, and slow down to let people pass. If by chance I'm late for something I don't speed just to get there in time, I just know next time that I should leave earlier. Seems like kids don't have a since of timing anymore, then they speed to get to wherever they're going and end up getting into a wreck.

Going 55mph is dangerous on dirt roads. It isn't the other people's fault that they aren't from your area and drive a bit slower. Dirt roads don't give your good traction and are loaded with potholes. People shouldn't be passing on these roads since its too dangerous. Its not the other drivers who are wrong, but it is you. You are driving too fast and need to respect the other drivers around you. You didn't pay attention in drivers Ed since you dont think about defensive driving. Isn't passing when its illegal, going much faster than what is recomended (Drive for the conditions!!!) and forcing the slow person to pull over because they are slower. You need to learn to respect others and share the road. you are going to be the person who causes an accident since you couldnt slow down. You do get better gas mileage at slower speeds. I agree with the drivers ed focusing on passing the drivers test rather than teaching you how to drive. You need to read about aggressive driving since you seem to have it.

speed limit is just what it says a limit i have never felt save driving at 55 on a dirt road an would be a compleat fool in do 55 on a snow/ice covered road so when you hit me an you recive a ticket for driving to fast for road condutions the min. on most interstste is 45 but i bet you never get a ticket for driving 35 in a ice storm if you are nuts enough to do so wana here more about summer roads i have gotten enough tickets for being stupid to know bottom line just because it says 55 does not mean u have to go that fast it just means u cant go faster leagly

Rant all you want get it off your chest. Drivers ED is a mess off class and kids watch racing viedo games when they wreck out they push reset. We are killing over 5,000 kids a year because parents just don't restrict the driving privledge untill the kid learns driving can result in death and injury. Young boys with friends in cars at night is a receipt for death. Young girls with friends in cars taking and texting on there phones too. People wake up and drive! Don't drink and drive Click seatbelt. all good advice. Gradulated Licences might be the answer but car control class would help the most. How to correct a slide how to get out of a spin...
