I am recovering from a chronic illness and have been doing a lot of cardio. I jog 3-4 times a week and do tennis training 2-3 times (I loathe weight training). If I gain weight slowly with healthy foods while continuing to exercise daily, will I see an increase in muscle eventually?

Cardios can give muscles only for the beginers. That too will not be a significant one. If you really in search of muscles you have to rely on strength training.

It can be a resistance traning using your body weight as the resistance or it can be a weight training. And the later is more suitable for muscle building.

Have a great day.

As long as you exercise regularly, you will gain some muscles and keep it toned. You might not turn out to be a bulky muscular man but you will certainly gain some.

No. You need weight training AND protein to see results. Sorry :(
