what can i do to get a smaller waist?

Cardio is the only way. Go for a jog 5-7 times a week.

You will not notice effects of any abdominal exercise until the fat is gone anyway, so it's better to lose the weight first.

It all depends on how much of your waistline is composed of fat.

Try hula hoop! It's a mix of cardio and muscle toning... you will lose fat AND get your abs toned.

You can use pilates too but that one won't have you lose fat, only do the muscle part.

You can do abdominal exercises (like sit-ups) to strengthen your muscles in that area, but in order to lose fat you need to do aerobic exercise like walking or jogging.
