In general people deserve their governments. Smart voters will elect good representatives,. Uneducated voters will elect governments who are more interested in power and money than in making our planet better place to live. We have to change oursellf first. Maybe instead of spending countless hours watching football and other garbage that the TV networks are feeding us, we start watching news(not necessarily on TV), and paying attention to real problems then and only then we will elect a decent and honest people.
Start the change with yourself and with people you know. Make it to your main purpose in your life. Try to convince at least one person and you will see how difficult it is. If you cannot change the opinion of one person, how do you think you will change a group of power hungry, arrogant members of government.
BUT If enough people (critical mass) will think like you, then the change will come.

Best method to make large scale changes is to make many small environmental changes within a community. Community changes provide the opportunity for those less likely to become active to be involved because their work will have direct results on their local lifestyle. Many small changes within given communities will equate to a large scale change and if many small communities have made changes that usually includes interest from many people. The government or politicians who represent the government will take notice to their constituents interest and activities.

Seems it's easier to do so if there is some sort of celebrity giving a face to an idea or cause that draws media attention (pressure).
Maybe supporting green parties by volunteering your time to get the message out.
Lobbyists seem to do the most (damage) maybe there should be some that are green... I'm unaware of any really... not that I know who they are or what they promote.(shrug)

By forming groups such as the Greenies. They fight for enviromental rights and such by protesting and highlighting the significance of the enviroment.
The more people that show an interest in saving the envioment, they more the government will have to listen in order to maintain voters votes.
