I'm getting an MP3 player with more storage, but in the mean time, I just need to store about 20-30G somewhere other than my PC hard drive. What's the cheapest way to do it.

Well there's an external hard drive but they are more expensive than internal ones.

If you don't want to store the files internally, I'd suggest backing them up to DVDs. If you've got a Dual Layer burner you'd need 4 DVDs. If it's single layer, you'd need 8.

Burn the files onto about 10 single sided DVDs - cost about $0.50 cents each here in Australia.

or

Purchase a new Hard Disk Drive and install it into your computer - cost about $100 +/- or into an external USB 2 box add $40.00 or so.

Otherwise hook your computer up to a friends computer and have them store the files for you.

If you both have Windows XP you will just need a "cross over cable"

Most modern - last 18 months - Computers have a LAN - Local Area Network" facility inbuilt.

Microsoft have information on how to do this at

http://support.microsoft.com.

If you know about interconnected game play - that is a LAN Bash you should have no problem Actually if you know about this you would not be asking this question so -

I bet the Kid next door knows how to do all this - borrow him - for the price of a six pack of Coke a Cola he will properly have your problem solved in an hour.
