Virtually if one is out all day there is nothing like coming home knowing that whatever you have put in the pot will be cooked hot & just waiting to be eaten,on cold winter nights it`s a boon so lamb, pork, goulash, anything &everything could be experimented with that`s one of the joys I have living alone & cooking up a new dish 3-4 times a week, there are books on the subject to try your local library.

I think lamb shanks are the ideal option. You can pretty much just fry then for a few minutes, then add your spices and let the buggers cook as slowly and for as long as you want -whack them on, go to the pub and when you come back, they're done. They will all off the bone after 2 1/2 hours if you cook 4 of them, and they make great leftovers with some rice or nan bread. I like the morroccan recipes as they are perfect for lamb: http://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/database/lambshanksmorroccans_67747.shtml good luck.

You lucky thing! I bought one for my mother and one for myself and now we are hooked and my mum is busy evangelising her neighbours and friends.
There really is so much you can do with a slow cooker as long as you have followed the rules like pre-heating etc, you cannot go wrong.
I use mine for soups, stocks, stews, casseroles and all kinds of things. Let your imagination run wild. Anything can be cooked in a slow cooker.
If you look up About Busy Cooks in your address bar on your computer you will come up with an excellent American site which seems to specialise in Crock Pot cookery (same difference, different name for same thing!)

I usually put in some meat like a whole chicken or pork ribs, meat that taste good after being cooked for a long time.. Add in some mushrooms (chinese ones are good), carrots, potatoes, a little cooking wine, oyster sauce or soy sauce, add some water or broth to barely cover it all.. after about 3hours.. it'll taste fantastic..

Put in any kind of meat you like, seasoned with seasoned salt, garlic powder, and black pepper. Open a can of cream of mushroom soup and put it in there with a half can of water. Add some chopped onions, bell pepper, carrots and potatoes, and a dash of thyme. Cook it for 10 hours for meat, and 6-8 hours for poultry. Serve it with hot cooked rice, and dinner rolls.Simple! Enjoy.

Is it a standalone one that plugs in and sits on top of the worktop? If so my mum had one and used to make mostly stews in it. You can make almost anything, curries etc. You normally get a recipee booklet with it, if not then have a look in the library.
