yea, it is almost as annoying as them referring to us as "uneducated" and "unknowing", as if intelligence has anything to do with one's inability to believe in God.

I think that some people use their religion to vent their inner frustration and agression. They lash out at people who don't agree with them because they feel they have a right to do that somehow. If they didn't have their religion they would probably be football hooligans or something. When you're a football hooligan you can lash out at fans of the other team because they're backing the "wrong side".When you're a religion fan you can lash out for the same reason, but it all stems from an inner frustration that has nothing to do with either athiests nor football fan of the other team. Probably a lot of the frustrations stem from the religion itself since most religions seem very narrow minded with a lot of hatred towards anyone who doesn't fit in exactly as they should.

Yes, perhaps you're right. Sometimes the reactions of believers towards you is ridiculous. I believe in God and I'm a Christian, but respect others beliefs too. I am steady and sure in my own belief and no-one can sway me, so why do so many Christians feel so threatened by non-believers? As a Christian I always think of how Jesus would've behaved or what he would've said - he didn't go round ranting and raving or slating anyone who didn't believe in him did he? Dear Athiest - I'll pray for you! You may not believe in God but he believes in you. I'll pray that the holy spirit will visit you soon. Fellow Christians - remember we are Christ's ambassadors on earth - so don't let him down by losing it!

how can a believer... i.e. someone who believes that there is a God, blame someone for his non-existence.. that really just doesn't make sense.
I guess some people can get venomous because atheists can be quite venomous too. Why do people expect Christians to be these saints who will just sit down and take abuse... we're proud to stand up for what we believe in, and I for one wouldn't just sit there and take it if someone was saying i was ignorant for believing in God.

The nebulous religious dogma of a GOD and his cohorts is very dear to them.... But that said,,,
Even for someone who has no faith in religious nonsense can recognise a 'power' other than human kind
one way of at least scientifically looking at the issue
is to understand how even matter when it came into existence already had rules that immediately began their work.
If these rules were already in place before time began.........
power beyond our comprehension exists
but as for what that means
well there is always dogma

Hell is a choice, regardless if one believes in it or not. A choice in ignorance is still a choice none the less. This is what I expect a loving God to do. Respect the wishes of those who didn't want to love Him or know Him. He will give them what they wanted, and that is seperation from Him. This in essence is what Hell is...seperation from God.
I also would expect those within todays scientific paradigm (neo-Darwinism) to ridicule those within the I.D. movement and Christians. This is the first step that must occur before a major paradigm shift. Neo-Darwinism is going through crisis, and this is why you see such harsh reactions and articles against I.D.
This is the same thing that happened when "flat earthers" shifted to "round earthers". We saw severe ridicule, a huge outlashing, and then acceptance.

I think we rattle their cage. The mere, mild action of actually asking for some iota of tangible evidence for their claims is enough to provoke a rant. Their world is faith-based, where critical thinking and logic are not really required, and when confronted with any form of challenge, or when the essential dumbness of their circular reasoning is pointed out, their fear and confusion very often manifests as anger.
Is it not strange that the same person, often, who spends considerable time and effort trying to persuade you that Jesus loves you and theirs is a god of peace, will as a final resort, take comfort in, and relish the thought that you are going to be tortured forever in hell by this loving god?

Religious authorities have fought against progress in science since the middle ages they even tried to control printing presses and slow the growth of literacy to control information. Nowadays they flood the Internet with dis-information to try and control thought.
I think this is desperate and evil.

Its because year by year science mocks religion and proves its basic foundations to be false and misleading. Religion reacts by completely changing to fit the new science leaving it's followers lost. Thus needing to lash out at science's "followers" - the athiest!

I do not think that atheists are un-educated, quite the opposite, it is their education ( certainly in my case) that may have caused them not to believe, once you study science, you are enlightened! It is untrue to say that we believe in nothing , we believe in scientific facts. Although how we could possibly be blamed for anything by the Christians is beyond me. I don`t interfere with their belief and I prefer that they do not interfere in my non-belief.
