I had a bit of a giggle reading your initial post, but know what you meant.

Polar bears have excellent sense of smell, picking up the smell of seals etc over many kilometres.

They either hunt by sitting still using the smell, of the seals breathing hole, or they stalk their food, much like a cat. If lucky they may find a young seal cubs cave, and break through the cave roof to catch and eat the hapless seal pup.

On a clear day you can supposedly see a polar bears black nose, and did you know they have a black tongue?

Pandas do not hunt seals or anything else. they are native to China and eat only bamboo. If you are thinking of Polar bears, yes they hunt seals and often ambush them on an island as they are excellent swimmers. They also have a very powerful sense of smell and go along the ice smelling for live animals under the ice hiding at which time, they can break through the ice by the powerful feet and overall weight to crush the ice and get at the animals below.

Pandas do not only eat bamboo. In captivity they also eat Panda Chow, and bamboo muffins, which also contain Panda chow.

Polar bears hunt the seals by searching for the holes the seals make in the ice. I wonder what polar bears in the zoo eat?
I'd ask...but I have a stalker who reports every question I ask as unsuitable...How do you think that person does that?

You are mixing a panda with a polar bear... Panda eats bamboo and polar bears eat seals...

Polar bears find a seal air hole and sneak up on it slowly and sit there until a seal comes up to breathe and then they scoop him right out of the hole.

I guess that was what you wanted to know... :)
