You would be right. Have you ever read the Satanic Bible?
Near the begining, it mentions watching men lust after women on Saturday nights, go to church with the wife and kids, seek salvation, and then be back next Saturday to repeat it.

Yes, you are right. Sadly to say and having to admit to. I am a Christian and I'm not perfect either, but I too have witnessed so-called believers behaving as pagans.
This is why Christ says "Not everyone who cries Lord Lord will enter the Kingdom of Heaven, but those who do the will of my Father".
So certainly (Though I know you do not believe), but for a believer, Christ isn't really someone to play games with.
Though, it is hard for everybody to have faith constantly at times, especially in this environment and the temptations, one must either really be for Him or against Him. It's a struggle, but I don't think it was meant to be a picnic.
So, many do let their faith down and represent it so badly to others, it would not be surprising that an atheist would be come further confirmed in his non belief, and a agnostic becoming an atheist. But again, those who allow the "let down Christians' confirm them in their non belief, are not overly excused either, as we are all quite capable of finding out about Christ ourselves, the bible and what He was about and certainly, if one wants to only look at the luke warm Christian, they will most likely miss the ones who are trying to be a true Christian. So often is the case, the focus is only one the worst and we must be fair also.
This is why, I do not look upon them and Judge Christ by their behaviours, as I am well aquainted with Him from the bible and the difference is vast. Some however, are so true to their belief, that they draw people instantly to God and this is how it was supposed to be. I have met these people and you cannot explain what it is, even without preaching, I've sensed it in them. Wish I was that way, but I guess it takes a close and consistant walk with Christ, so He is able to reach people through us..
I wish more of us would be true, but no wonder the road is narrow and few who are who find it. And yes, some people do go to church because perhaps they think that alone will save them. But really God looks within a person's heart, their intentions and how they lived their life. I don't think He asks much at all, considering He died for ours sins.
I respect your beliefs/unbeliefs, but I'm speaking only for myself as a believer and maybe on behalf of a few others who share my Christian belief.

At last a sensible answer from someone. (GUS)
There is nothing selfish about wanting to follow Christ and spending eternity with Him. What IS selfish is knowing the Truth and withholding the Truth from someone. Yes some of us will be rejected, but so was Christ. He said that, "because they have perscuted Me they will perscute you" There are a lot of people who go to church to put on a show for others, and think that going to church will get them into heaven, BUT Christ knows the heart of people and they will have to answer for that when the Day comes. One cannot lie to God as He knows what the intent is in their heart. I for one cannot wait until they stand in front of Christ and see what kind of excuses they give. I am not saying I will spend eternity with Him as I am not a judge, I only try my best to please Him, and He knows my intentions.

I think you must be an atheist or you would know that just going to "CHURCH" does not make you a TRUE CHRISTIAN.
You have to obey GOD'S word all the time not just when you feel like it.
Hebrews 11:6 BUT WITHOUT FAITH IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO PLEASE HIM FOR HE THAT COMETH TO GOD MUST BELIEVE THAT HE IS AND THAT HE IS A REWARDER OF THEM WHICH DILIGENTLY SEEK HIM.
True Christians are Christians all the time.
True Christians let their light shine before men and you can tell they are Christians by their lives they live.

The fact that you're an atheist says it all. Sounds like you have already formed an opinion no matter what is provided as an answer on this forum.
Being an atheist you obviously don't know about what the scriptures say about being a Christian. Being a Christian has several purposes.
1) To share the love of Jesus Christ.
2) To share the Good News of Jesus Christ.
3) To be assured of a life with Christ both in the present life and the afterlife for all of eternity.
4) To be the salt of the earth.
Of course, this is nothing but gibberish to you, right?

I think so. Every time my mother was trying to force me into church as a child, I'd ask her "Why?" She'd give the same old stuff about how we have to go see god (my answer was "Isn't god everywhere?"), god wants to know we love him ("doesn't he know everything?") and finally, because we'll go to hell if we don't! So, yeah, people only go out of fear. Oh, and sometimes to socialize and show off who's got the better clothes, car, spouse and kids.
Christians and other ultra religious people say you need to have a solid religion (namely, their religion) to be a good, moral person. Problem is, morality requires analytical thought. Blind faith denies that to people. So logically, the more blind faith one has, the less moral he is capable of becoming.

The people who have done me the worst in my life have been "Church People".
Never enter into deal with someone who throws it in your face, they are trying to say they are better than you. You can not trust them to do right by you.
They think they deserve to "Better" you because they contribute more and are holy er. Some how by them screwing you, they think God is blessing them.
Most have little or no faith. It is either social or so God will forgive them for what they do to you and me on Mon-Sat.
I am Christian, I have very strong faith and I know I can still get to heaven without belonging to the "Organized" religions. Many a Sunday regular will burn in hell for their lack of "Real" faith.
Grace be with you all

Well to SAY you are a christian and to BE a christian is 2 different things, in the frist place , to be a christian is to "Be Christ like" and if a person says he is one and dose not show forth the fruit , then he is a lair, and they might fool some people, but GOD knows thier hearts.
I know there are people that make false confessions , but they will have thier place among those in the lake of fire.
I know you say you are an Atheist, but God said that we are born with a knowledge of him in our hearts, so you know about him , and one day you will acknowledge that.

Honestly, it doesn't matter, but I wouldn't go basing your decision about who god is or whether or not he/she/it exists on the actions of the people around you. Look inside for the answers.
People all have their own reasons for the things they do based on what they want to experience in their life. The question is, what are YOUR values? Do you want to involve yourself with beings who's values are not the same as yours? Or is this just about you wanting to feel superior over these people?

Saving oneself is a personal relationship to GOD. God has given us freedom the will of knowledge to choose. God showed and teached us all the advantages and disadvantages of all things. If I have told you about what I have learned best from the words of GOD and what it taught me and you followed then that is not for my credit but it is yours to count and if you do not follow then I have done my part to share to you the good news. I can not save you but it is all yours to do your part to save yourself between GOD and yourself. It is a personal relationship.
