Your hair would get very greasy. I read in a magazine though about a family who don't ever wash their hair but their hair looked ok in the pictures, and the magazine article said that this is because your hair cleans itself after a while! I wouldn't be able to stand my hair going through the stage of being greasy before my hair started to clean itself thought lol.

Depends how long you go without washing it. It's better not to wash it every day. The natural oils from your scalp are best at keeping your hair soft, and washing every day strips away the oils.

I suggest washing your hair 2 to 4 times a week, depending on how long and thick it is (long/thick hair can be washed less). If you go longer than that not much will happen, except your hair will stay oily.

If you are going places where dirt or gross stuff gets in your hair, then you should probably wash it more often.

Hey girl, I dont think the others understood your question because of the way it is worded but I take it to mean that you want to know if washing your hair too close to the time that you are scheduled to get a relaxer can do damage. My answer if that is your question is that if you washed it today it should be ok to get a relaxer touch-up on Tuesday, but usually you want to not wet or scratch your scalp for at least a week before you get a touch up because this will open your hair follicles and take away all skin protection for your scalp exposing it to more of the relaxer chemical than if you had not scratched it or washed it. So product build-up is actually a plus in protecting your scalp when you get a touch-up. Then after you get the touch up you can go ahead and wash it 48 hours later if you need to. ALSO!!!! please make sure your stylists bases your scalp properly before she relaxes and do not use a no-lye perm! they dry out your hair. Goodluck... ( affirm fiberguard lye formula in mild or regular is the best relaxer out there...)

I had shingles once and couldn't wash my hair for over a month as there was a possibility of it spreading up and to my hair. It went quite greasy for a while but then it was OK. I think if you don't wash it. it will eventually self clean, you can always try and see.

Myself, if I don't wash my hair after one day it gets horribly greasy and itches like hell, so I have to wash it. Apparently, over a certain amount of time it will clean itself, but I could never leave it that long!

at first it would appear to be dirty and greasy

but after a few weeks the natural oils in your scalp and hair will clean themselves

i know someone who hasnt washed their hair for 6 months!!!

and it looks great .........much to my amazement

i spose you have to get over the first stage if you can put up with it

as for the answers here that say you will get dreadlocks.. that is not true.......... if you brush it as normal every day it will be normal

Dreadlocks are essentially matted hair -- a state some claim is the natural form of human hair, but there is a technique to geting dreadlocks they dont just grow like that

Hi, i would say that you would end up with very bad conditioned hair if you dont ever wash it, probably a definite turn off with most people

A friend of mine stopped washing his long hair last christmas, he wet it in the shower but never shampooed. It looked ok, bit greasy but it smelled like food. He started brushing it in the shower which helped with the grease and when I saw him after a year of not shampooing it looked really good and didn't smell at all.

it smells and gets greasy, but apparently if you leave it long enough it starts to clean itself with natural oils. I cant say i know from experience it was probably made up by someone lazy who didnt want to wash their hair
