If it doesn't make sense to you... you're mind is very clouded.
Islam is the truth. If you refuse to believe, then you are astray, misguided or cursed by God Almighty.
by the way... Muslims are not trying to tell others that Islam has a monopoly on the truth, God is. Muslims just recite what God instructed them to say through His Holy Messenger, peace be upon him.
I know you were never a Muslimah because you would know this very simple tenant of Islam. Who are you really?

Yes. Just like Christianity (and most other religions) preach that THEY have a monopoly on the truth.

Most religions think that their vision or version of a superior being are the only correct one, religion is the reason that half the world kills the other half, it is very sad.
All I know. is the god that I believe exists, is not one of hate or terror, but one of love.
I think the Muslims do beleive that but so do the rest of us, I think if we had a better understanding of where thy are coming from we would not be in the mess we are right now....

There is only one God
That is the God of Muhammad, Jesus, Moses, Abraham, Noah and all of the Prophets. (Peace and blessings be upon all of the Prophets)

It's trying to say, as you suggest, that Allah is the One God, but only in Islam... if you don't believe in Islam, then I would suggest that it doesn't apply to you...

I don't think so. Mainly because they usually only say it to each other. It's kind of like an affirmation of their faith, something that they draw strength from.
Personally, I think that if a person needs to be reminded of faith constantly, then his faith isn't all that strong. Just my two cents.
