God didn't fail me. Religious teaching is what failed. I came to realise that religious people had no more objective knowledge about what they were teaching than anyone else (particularly about what happens after you die).
They stretched credibilty to breaking point, even for a child who is genetically programmed to be credulous. I then began to suspect that people might sometimes have other reasons for saying stuff. Basically, I reckon that sometimes people say things because it makes them feel better, and this "benefit" is magnified if they can get others on board to their beliefs. This is particularly true of the things people say that are designed to cause fear, and which have no rational or objective proof.
I still hold this belief, but I'm open to challenge.

How did God fail me? God didn't fail me. I don't believe that God exists.
I realized that believing in God was not doing anything for me over a long period of time. The more educated I became, the more I realized that I had been misled, and was deluding myself.

It wasn't so much God failing me, but rather that I became enlightened. I simply outgrew the concept of God and find it rather naive. I am not an agnostic, I am atheist/Pagan. I don't believe that God exists therefore I couldn't say that he failed me.

God doesn't fail anybody. People fail when they do not believe in Him. Nothing good comes from doing your on will. You have to do the Will of God. You have to believe in Jesus Christ.

No....that wasn't it at all. I wasn't in it because it did something for me, I was in it because my parents brought me up that way. Whether I think it does something for me is not a reason to believe. Evidence is a reason to believe. It was the lack of evidence and the biblical contradictions that did it.

God never failed you, he doesn't fail anyone. Sometimes unanswered prayers are the best! What doesn't kill you only makes you stronger!
