I don't see 7lbs underweight as being a problem that needs some serious fixing. I like the idea of the sleep, water and eggs, and I don't like the idea of weight gain supplements or energy drinks and shakes, as you just don't want to put weight on for weight's sake.

Using the gym is always a good idea, there is no need to build muscle, just be fit and as your muscles do tone up, you will weigh more and maybe look better for it.

Eat nourishing food with plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables being part of it. Chew each morsel at least 32 times. This will activate signal to the brain as soon as u have had enough. Besides this change in eating style, take regular light exercises and brisk walks every day. U will be able to gain/shed all extra weight gracefully and in a reasonable time span.

More muscle mass- Even some very light weights will trigger your muscles to get toned and add some healthy weight without making you look like Arnold swarzenegar.

Search the web for dumbell excersises if you are unsure.

Free weights are not just for arms and shoulders, they also can tone ur chest back butt thighs, etc

Eat a healthy diet with more nutrients. And add a multi-vitamin supplement to your diet as your body probably isn't getting all the vitamins you need. I had to add weight as I was pretty thin for a bloke, so a doctor told me to add a nutritional shake to my diet, which gave me the extra healthy calories I needed. Im not talking stupid MEGA MEAN MUSCLE 10000+ competition shake crap. I mean a healthy Complex Carb / Protein shake just to add easy calories instead of eating lots more fatty foods which will only add body fat to you. Speak to your pharmacist or health food assistant instore for guidance- thats what I did:) They come in nice flavours like chocolate and strawberry, are easy to make (just add water and shake!), and u can add fruits like banana, or add ice to it if you so wish to.

If you train without eating extra, you will just fade away and become even thinner- If you try adding weight sheerly by eating more (say an extra 1000 calories) chances are it will be made up of fatty things like takeaways, ready meals, and high sugar foods- not good!

I have a shake in morning for breakfast then a little snack at 10.30 ish, then a nice lunch (sandwiches / eggs / beans on toast etc). A hearty dinner- meat and veg.

Then I burn some calories with the weights and punch bag, and take a protein shake straight after so my muscles can recover (protein feeds ur muscles to repair them) and I take my dog for a walk around the block.

Finally its important to get a minimum of 6 hours (ideally 8)
in order for your body to repair itself and thus tone ur body into better shape!

Go for it!

All the best for 2007!

eat well! train well! there you go! if you pop in to your gym then they should know the best way to help you gain and no...it doesnt mean you will look like arnie! but they will teach you how you can tone up and muscle weighs more than fat so a little good weight will make up for a lot of bad weight,nice to hear from some one with enough sense to actually ask about the best way to gain weight! good on ya! oh and for the eating part, just try to make your plate as colourful as possible, that way you should be getting enough different vitamins from the fruit and veg to do you alot of good! x

whatever you do, do not, I repeat, DO NOT think that consuming junk food will help. By turning to chocolate, crisps and fast food weight gain will be continous. Try swapping or adding something, for example if you eat 2 pieces of fruit at luch, add some peanuts or yoghurt. Dont bulk out on heavy carbs, these make you bloated and will make you feel like you have gained too much. A good menu for a day, I would say is;

Breaky;
A bowl of bran based cereal and a piece of fruit.

Mid morning;
Satsuma

Lunch;
Mixed salad with pine nuts or a wholmeal/brown sarnie (such as chicken salad)
Packet of light crisps
small yoghurt
apple

Mid afternoon;
Satsuma

Dinner;
Grill, oven baked or lighlty boiled/fryed meat/fish such as chicken, gammon, mince meat, cod or haddock.
Boiled/mashed potatoes, rice or pasta.
Boiled or steamed veg (3 types)

Pudding;
Bannana split made with light natural yoghurt and mixed raisins.

6-8 glasses of plain water, max of 5 hot drinks (remember to account for the milk) and 2 glasses of no-added sugar squash.

Being told that your underweight and looking and feeling underweight are two different things.
Weight gain doesn't work for everyone ...
If you are losing weight, get your thyroid tested . No amount of training will make you put weight on , unless you eat and rest as well. Carbs n protein will help you bulk up..try egg whites for extra protein and cut out fatty foods..

Add plenty of virgin olive oil to all your salads and while cooking. It's healthy and you'll gain weight without noticing it! Nuts are also high in calories but healthy too, so snack on them all day.
