Improved diet is essential in treating iron deficiency. Basically this means eating more whole foods, sufficient animal protein & eliminating sugar & stimulants (especially coffee). Richest sources of iron are liver (& other organ meats), egg yolk, legumes & parsley. You should see your doctor about taking supplements as this should be carefully monitored by a medical expert as iron supplements can inhibit the absorption of zinc & iron is antagonistic with vitamin E.

Well, it depends on why you have the anemia, it's difficult to say what to do without knowing that. But what you can do for most kinds of anemia (and, obviously, you should see your doctor to make sure you really are anemic and to try to find the cause) is make sure you eat foods rich in iron so your body at least has the materials to make more blood.

To increase your blood count immediately eat liver (Beef is best), dark green vegetables have iron too, but liron from iver is more easily and quickly absorbed. You should talk to your doctor though as you may need iron supplements, and taking too many of those yourself could be harmful.

take iron supplements, stay away from tea and caffeine, like sodas too. Eat dried apricots, spinach, raisins. Too much dairy inhibits the absorption of iron also. My daughter was just diagnosed with anemia and they gave me a pamphlet as a guide of what to eat and what not to eat.

SPINACH! It's loaded with iron, goes lovely in Italian foods, doesn't have the fat and other problems associated with red meat, and the iron is absorbed much better through food than through supplement tablets, without side-effects.

If you are dangerously anaemic, obviously, talk to your doctor.
