My fiance just got a DWI in NJ and has a court date soon. This is his first offense. Is there any chance he won't get his license suspended so he can still drive to/from work?

No chance. First offense is six months suspension. Been in court for over a decade and have NEVER seen a judge grant 'day driving' priveleges for DUI. Sorry.

Get ready to play chaffeur for the next 6 months (or have him drive illegally and pray he doesn't get caught, because the consequences are substantial.)

No chance. Thankfully!

IMHO, a first time conviction should attract a 5 year revocation and a lifetime alcohol interlock after the 5 years. A second conviction should attract a lifetime revocation.
