2 pounds ground turkey (or 1 1/2 pounds ground round)
1 large onion, chopped
1 green bell pepper, chopped
1 red bell pepper, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 (28 oz.) cans fire-roasted diced tomatoes
2 cups water
1 (6 oz.) can tomato paste
3 tablespoons mexican-style chili powder
1 tablespoon ground cumin
1 teaspoon sugar
2 cans kidney beans, undrained
1 can black beans, undrained
1. In large pot, brown turkey and drain fat.
2. Add onion, bell peppers, and garlic. Cook and stir until tender.
3. Add remaining ingredients, cover and bring to a boil.
4. Reduce heat and simmer for 1 to 2 hours.
The beef/hamburger is what makes chili unhealthy, but if you want beef, just use one with a lower fat percentage (ground round). Ground chuck has the highest fat content. Also, look for low sodium tomatoes.

Chilli is pretty healthy in the first place. If you use all natural ingredients: Onions, Tomatos, red bell pepper, pinto beans (not canned). The only thing maybe to replace mince beef with mince chicken (witout skin) and season the chilli yourself instead of using a packet. (Paprika, Garlic, chilli powder etc).
To go with the chilli have brown/red rice or whole wheat tortillas.

Easy Vegan Chili
2 - cans pinto beans (15 oz)
1 - can kidney beans (15 oz)
1 - can chopped green chili's (4 oz)
1 - can diced tomatoes
1 - can stewed tomatoes (I blend these)
1 - onion (chopped)
mushrooms (chopped)
1/2 t salt
1/2 t pepper
chili powder to taste
This recipe was given to me by a close friend and after 15 yrs. it is still a crowd pleaser on game day. I put all the veggies, salt and pepper in a crock pot and simmer on low for 12 hrs. I stir every 3 hrs. and add chili powder until it has a kick but not nuclear. Serve with whole grain crackers or tortillas and enjoy!

8oz lean minced beef
1 tin chopped tomatoes
1 tin red chilli beans [not in sauce]
small amount of either a chopped chilli pepper or ready prepared from a jar - best in oil
small amount of olive oil [extra virgin is best]
onion chopped finely
glove garlic crushed
fry the onion and garlic in some oil, add the meat and stir until it is fully cooked. Add some of the chilli pepper [be careful to add small amount so as not to overpower with heat, then add the tomato and the drained red beans [If you are using dried beans which need soaking overnight, you MUST cook them thoroughly as the beans uncooked are poisonous!!!] Then simmer for a long time [half hour minimum] to allow thorough melding of juices and flavours. Serve with freshly baked french stick or with long grain rice.
The chilli sauce keeps well and will be more flavoursome if you prepare it earlier!
Bon appetit

1 lb of mince,2 cans tinned tomatoes, i tube tomato puree, ten chopped mushrooms, two medium onions, half a can of kidney beans, half a can of baked beans washed (no sauce), one oxo cube and half a pint of beef gravy, a level desert spoon of basil, a teaspoon of oregano, a level teaspoon of chilli powder and a level teaspoon of cayenne pepper with salt and pepper to taste.
Fry the mince breaking it up with a spatula constantly until its brown, drain the fat then bang the lot in a pan on a low light to simmer for a half hour or so, adding water if it gets too thick.
Lovely on jacket spuds with a bit of cheese.
