I'm trying herbal teas, but they don't seem to have the same comforting effect.
I was going to try decaf - but does this still have caffeine in?

I have bought quite a few from them including cocoa rooibos which actually tastes a quite like hot chocolate! My favourite is nettle tea as it is full of B vitamins & makes me feel really healthy. They are much better from this website than herbal teas you can buy in supermarkets which I find tasteless especially if they are in tea bags eg. the herbal fruit teas that taste like watery ribena. Good luck with giving up the coffee - it is worth it. I think they extract the caffeine from decaf coffee with some sort of chemical process which doesn't sound all that too good to me.

'Decaf'= Abbreviation for 'De-Caffeinated', meaning the caffeine has been removed. There are miniscule trace amounts of caffeine left, and a lot of toxic chemicals ADDED. (Unless you buy the very pricey stuff). Ditch the decaf!

You will have headaches, if you quit caffeine cold-turkey. Caffeine constricts blood-vessels in the brain, and it will hurt, having them dilated.

Try ordinary (not decaffeinated) green tea, for a start.

You will experience some constipation. Coffee is a colinurgic -- makes you go. Raise the amount of fibre in your diet, to compensate.

The 'comforting effect' from coffee is the satisfaction of your ADDICTION to caffeine. Coffee is not 'comforting'. Coffee is a STIMULANT. Caffeine, like nicotine, and amphetamine, are all forms of 'speed'.

You will notice sleepiness, feel less alert, and possibly gain weight.
This is why I suggested the caffeinated green tea. One thing at a time.

Coffee is CORROSIVE to the lower intestine, and contributes heavily to bowel-cancer. Good job quitting drinking the stuff! I did it, in '88, because bowel-cancer runs in my family. De-caffeinated coffee is just as carcinogenic as ordinary coffee. The stuff is just not very good for you.

The antioxidants in the green tea will help purify your system, and you can start alternating caffeinated and decaf, and wean yourself off the caffeine.

Why is everything that tastes nice so blxxdy bad for us?? :-(

Good luck. DON'T substitute sugar for caffeine -- very easy to do without thinking. You'll gain weight, and feel lousy.

Congratulations on trying to kick an addiction. It's never easy, but it feels very gratifying to know you are not a slave to your addiction. I've just packed in smoking, and I'm dxmn proud of it.

I gave up caffeine last year, and feel a lot better for it, I still have a cup of tea sometimes, but very rarely. I switched to just drinking water, which after about two weeks I felt amazing, but first I had to go through sleepless nights and headaches from caffiene withdrawal, it is not easy to kick the caffeine but you do feel the benfits and the added bonus off drinking lots of water is lovely smooth skin.

Try "red tea" . It's sometimes called roobios tea. It is native to Africa. It has a very interesting flavor. It is sort of sweet tasting all by itself. The longer you brew it the sweeter it tastes. It not like green tea, where if you brew it a long time it turns bitter. I usually get it mixed with some other flavor like vanilla. It is naturally caffeinated and is full of the same antioxidants as green tea. It gives you a calming effect. I usually like to drink a bedtime.It is also very easy on the stomach and is a good tea to drink after dinner.

You need to look at Herbal Teas that have Natural Balance in them. You are doing well with your decision.

But if you reduce the coffee gradually. Your body will become more accustomed to not having the "caffeine Kick" it needs.

When you are ready to cut coffee out your body will be ready.

Coffee has about 30mg of caffeine

Tea 20mg of caffeine

Herbal (Green Tea) 12-15mg

Just see how it goes.

Most hot drinks (excluding herbal) have caffine in, even the defcaf stuff. This also applies to most fizzy pops, if not all. Try drinking plenty of water sometimes with a little squash to freshen up your skin, it does work. Hot water with a slice of lemon in the mornings is meant to cleanse your pallet for the day.

its going to be hard. Coffe is an addictive substance whos effects are unmatched and sadly legal. the user must have coffe every day or they aren't able to function. Some have been known to drink whole pots. breaking the addiction requires strong will power. Its hard for most to go cold turkey. water(a less adictive substance necessary for all life) or a good all natural fruit juice or smoothy should help you out.

try decaf i don't think it does have caffeine in it, or just give up cold turkey. Milo is also good, like a hot chocolate drink but with vitamin and minerals...........why don't you just try water, or hot water with lemon in it, its got a nice little kick!

Roma. its like coffee but it has no caffeine and tastes great. drink hot chocolate...or caffeine free tea.
roma is sold in the same section as organic stuff.
