All vascular plants have special tissue called xylem and phloem to transport water and food within the plant. No fungi have these. Fungi often have large cells with many nuclei. The cytoplasm can stream throughout, carrying water and food around easily.

"Cytoplasm flows freely within the hyphae, providing nutrients wherever they are needed."
