Bless you, you have a full plate and then some.
How lucky she is to have you.
Do you ever get to get out on your own? Sometimes we as caregivers forget ourselves in the process. Seek to find someone that come in and help you so you don't get so overwhelmed. (believe me it will help) Keep music playing in house...relaxing and will give you a since of peace, why doing your tasks.
As far as the mother not getting out. Maybe she feels lost? Does she still remember people or does she just stare off? You are right for trying to keep her busy however if she is unable to communicate she just may be feeling pressure.
I know its hard and I know that its mentally hard also remember there may come a day that you have to give the role over to a nursing home, don't hate yourself for being honest, its just to much work. (We worried so much about her getting hurt. She would forget where the steps were and bingo we were in the ER)
(((((((((HUGS))))))) for caring enough to be there.

Best wishes

Try a support group. Look Alzheimer's association and find your local chapter.
