i.e. one third of the sea became blood. What's the relevance in that? Does it have any meaning or is it just God's plan?
Bit of a confusing question I know!

Tiffi P: my Avatar hat is CLEARLY a tiger not a leopard, as leopards have spots not stripes. And the hat I am wearing is a picture and not real so - get real. Please.

John Gemini: if you actually read the book of Revelation, you will see how ridiculous your answer sounds. You are so wrong.

The book of Revelation is very interesting.
The numbers there are of a *symbolic* nature.
Now all of reality operates according to *numerical* laws.
But this does not mean that you can exploit this property of reality to figure things out (as the stupid numerologists try to do).
Because if you discern one layer of numerical pattern in reality, there is always a deeper one that will throw you off and belie your predictions.
But boy, does the devil like to play with people who meddle like that.
But just to give some insight into what it all means ---
One is the number of unity.
Two is the number of division.
Three is a *suprageometric* number - It is the number of the Trinity.
Four is the number of *creation.*
Five is the number of |sin|
Six is the number of natural man abstracted from divine grace - Aristotle's rational animal, so to speak.
Seven is the number of *perfection.*
Eight can either be the number of *supernatural* perfection or it can be the number of /radical feminism/
Now this one throws kind of a curve because it is ambiguous.
But it is simply an expression of a nature of reality that there is a very close cleavage between good and evil, as a tiny difference in something can make it one or the other.
Nine is the number of :power: or masculinity.
Ten is the number of community.
Eleven is the number of judgment.
Twelve is the number of *Truth.*
Now when we get to fractions, the factional expression of a number is the reverse of its function.
For example, as three is the number of God, one third would be the number of the devil.
As four is the number of creation, one fourth would be the number of corrupt or perverted creation (homos like to dice things up into quarters. Just observe them and you will see that).
As ten is the number of community, one tenth would be the number of the anti-community - either of *communism* or *anarchy.*
Reality is infinitely deep in its numerical structure, and its logic determines all that exists///////
However, all exists for the sake of *love* - which is the very life of the Trinity.
Those who choose to love in this life will participate in the love and happiness of the triune God.
Those who choose selfishness, will be banished from Him forever and ever, as they are put on an endless treadmill of futile activity.
It is all a matter of how we use our free-will in this life.

The first trumpet will damage "the third part of the earth." Note that this verse does not say "a third," but "the third part." This means that a certain part of the earth, "the third part," will be damaged. While the whole earth is sinful, some parts of the earth are particularly hellish, devilish, satanic, demonic, and evil. I do not believe that the third part of the earth will include the United States. The United States is sinful, but, unlike other parts of the earth, it is not devilishly sinful. Those regions of the earth that are so sinful will be "the third part." Many people need to hear this word and be warned by it not to be so evil against God that their region becomes "the third part" of the earth, the region that will be fully damaged by God's judgment. According to Revelation 9, God's judgment of "the third part" will still be used to warn the rebellious world to repent.

It's an apocalyptic work designed to reassure 1st century Christians that the persecution they are suffering is worthwhile and that they would win out in the end. The imagery and language used would have been easily understood at the time. It's strange that in these days of science fiction, people have problems with it.
It's about Nero (he gets chucked in the lake of boiling sulphur at the end - actually he died, but why spoil a good yarn.) It's not meant to be an almanac for your daily life.

It depends on whether you interpret it literally or not. Most Christians would not interpret the Bible literally. Revelation is a revelation to John in a dream and it should be read in that context.

1/3 as in a fraction. God's plan. Get a different version if your really confused. KJV is the most accurate but sometimes hard to read. NKJV or NIV are pretty good translations.

the book of revelations is not a prophetic nor religious book. it was added later. john wrote the book describing the ill temper of a certain roman ruler's era, Nero, and hope of his damnation. it was written as a story for the people who lived under his rule as hope that there will be peace after his fall. it has no significance to the bible other than its referral to the fire and brimstone of "god's" wrath.
the whole third of this and that roughly meant alot of such. besides, it was not the same john that wrote most of the other scripture. this john was of a later era.

1/3 of mankind is killed.3 are thrown into the lake of fire.I just take
it to be literal. The false prophet, the Anti- Christ and Satan get put down, and 1/3 of mankind seems reasonable, since so many are against God.
