i'm interested in becoming an exchange student and would want to know when the school year starts

March 2nd for all schools (all grades, I mean), but if you are talking about universities & colleges you can try winter semesters (September 1st) or summer programs (differ from school to school), too.

yeah right.. you already got two answeres, they all presented well.
Korean edu system kinda sucks but it will be an exception for a foreigner. A friend of mine is from norway and he's in now korea as an exchange student. He hasn't been staying at school for that long time like other korean high school students have to.
He says his high school life is good with him. I hope your life here would be good if you ever get to come over here to korea.

The beginning of March. Students go to school 6 days a week usually, and some high school students go to school 7 days a week. Middle school and high school students wear uniforms and there are very strict rules for everything from haircuts to color of your socks depending on the school you go to.
