The meaning of love is a very broad question..to me it's finding ur counter part in the other person. More simply put finding this person should complete you not define you. As for what kind of girl you should look for that is really about ur preference, what do u look for when u are dating a person.
For me until I met my husband I never had before believed in love at first sight or soul mates but he proved me wrong. I honestly felt not having spoke to him just having seen him that I would be losing something if he left. Then after having talked to him I felt as I had come home that my very soul felt safe with him. He is funny, easy to talk to, strong when I need him to be, supportive, honest, gentle and is secure enough about himself to not feel threatened by my dreams or goals.
