do not pop the blister. the liquid inside is sterile to your body and it's an important part of the healing process. if you pop it-you introduce germs from the air to the burn, which can cause infection.

keep it covered with gauze wrap-apply nothing to it (not even aloe vera gel at this point) and let it go away on it's own.

IF and only IF the blister is interferring with your normal daily activites (showering, getting dressed, eating, etc) then take a sterile needle (boil it in water for 10 minutes) a poke a small hole in the blister-do this over a gauze pad that has NOT been opened prior to you using it. after the liquid has drained, apply a thin layer of neosporin to prevent infection and wrap the finger with gauze wrap. keep it clean and dry and change the dressing at least twice a day.

if the blister pops on it's own-follow the above steps to keep it from getting infected

report to your dr if

-the burn begins to swell or has increased redness
-the burn begins to drain liquid that is brown or green in color (pus)
-you begin to run a fever of 101.0 or higher

these are signs of infection and you will need antibiotics to treat it

It does seem to be an increasing problem for photographers, if you go to London and start taking photos of the famous landmarks, you even get the police harassing you! I live near an airport surrounded by some great scenery, but if you set a camera up, you risk a flying visit from security guards! You can't even take pictures of your own children at school sports day anymore and setting up a camera in a public park, or beach as you found, causes all kinds of problems. Silly thing is, no one bats an eyelid at all the mobile phone cameras being pointed at everything and everyone, but as soon as you use a 'proper' camera, you're some kind of dodgy character! Oh well, we'll just have to live with it I guess!

If you pop it use a needle to poke a small hole in it to release the liquid. Only do this after a few days of having the blister though because the water inside actually helps heal the burned skin.

Absolutely do not pop it!!!! This will make the area more susceptible to infection. You can apply some ice to reduce the swelling, 10 minutes on, 20 minutes off. Also, put some triple antibiotic ointment on it with a band aid.

No matter what these other idiots tell you. DO NOT pop a blister! When you do, you let in bacteria to the site with resultant infection. You have skin for a reason.

No, don't pop it. If you just let it be for a few days, it will heal by itself. In my experience, you have a better chance of not having a scar if you don't pop it. Also, if you pop it it could get infected. I recommend that you cover it with a bandaid to protect it and let it heal by itself.
