You can try using a temporary hair dye or rinse that has no peroxide in it. Over the counter dye products can be very damaging. You may wish to seek the advice of a hair-color specialist in a professional salon. There are many other factors that can dry out your hair as well...from medications to nutrition.

Dryness of the hair is often a sign that the hair color you are using is very harsh. To prevent dryness, try to avoid hair colors that use metallic dyes (almost any Clairol variety). Also, rather than purchasing over the counter colors, you can purchase several professional grade products at most beauty supply stores that are open to the public, such as Sally Beauty. If you consistantly use the same brand, I would consider switching to see if the brand you are using is actually to culprit rather than your hair.

do a treatment before dying ur hair, after dying, treatment again, then ALWAYS use a conditioner after shampooing ur hair. if u dye ur hair at saloons they would normally do a treatment for you. that of cos depends on the money spent, some salons, the treatment stuff they use are not so good. if u have dry hair, u should use a japanese shampoo, they work better for dry hair types! like Asience, Retrieve... :) hope this helps!

this could be any number of things from over proteinized hair to using a brand of haircolor that's drying to using products with alcohol and/or glycerin.
you could try using ethnic hair care products.
you could try checking the ingredients of your products.
you could try to towel dry your hair after rinsing the shampoo and before your conditioner. (this works the best for most of my clients)
apply conditioner to length and ends of hair before applying color to roots so the color doesn't keep drying out the ends.

i think the first step to prevent it is to avoid using bleach dye as it bleaches the colour out of your hair before colouring, and this process dries your hair. check the label for bleach dye or ordinary dye. hope this helps :)

Use good moisterizing shampoo designed for color treated hair, I think Pantene has a pretty good one. Also make sure you are conditioning your hair and using a deep condition weekly.
