I have stopped calling/taking calls from my GF. Am i correct?

I have decided not to continue with my GF, after a 3 year affair which did not get the assent of my parents even after trying for 2 years. I told her to be practical and take this as fate and lets not spoil our life by entering marriage in hostile conditions at my place. She does not understand this and says she cannot live without me. We had physical relations for almost a year and she tells she cannot live with anyone else. I always get drawn back to her listening to her woes, but this time I have stopped total contact with her, thereby I don’t get to listen to her crying, to avoid getting weak in my knees again. Am I correct? Or should I call her and try to console her again. Each time in the past I have done that, we have chugged along for a few months !

Thats tough because I've been in both situations before... Tell her that you think its best you dont talk anymore but let her know that you could still be there for her in times of need.

To her, you've become her routine, her addiction and when she says she cant live without you, she means it in some way. Help her find a way to cope instead of just cutting her off. Once she figures a way to deal on her own, things should get easier.

Well if the realtionship has fizzled on your part then i think you're right by ending things. She is using the common excuses during a break-up. The fact of the matter is, she isn't realizing that she is pushing for something that isn't there. Sure you care about her and hate to hurt her. This i can understand. Remember though, even though the two of you aren't together, you can always be friends. I know it's cheesy. But there are reasons why you were with this woman for so long and you get something from every relationship you enter and leave. Let her get over it some and offer the prospect of frienddship. I know it will more than likely be hard but atleast the offer is there. You were in the right to break it off. Better sooner than later and thank goodness there aren't children involved. Just explain to her it wasn't working out, the specific reasons bluntly, and tell her there is no point in being in a relationship if you're not happy. Good Luck and try no to over examine this situation. If you dweel too much, guilt will come and you may do something that you will regret...such as re-entering the relationship.

It's best to move on, hopefully she will as well. It sounds like it is a very unhealthy relationship, co dependency just the tip of the iceberg. Don't get sucked back into her drama.

If you console her it will only prolong her misery in the long run. She has learned to control you through emotions. Running back to her only enforces this behavior. You can't force her to seek help, but you might try writing her a note and sending it by post or emai. Tell her that it is time for both of you to move on, if she can not live without you then she needs to seek professional help. Tell her you feel the relationship is not healthy you are moving forward with your life and suggest she do the same.

That is basically all you can do. Cease all contact with her. She is trying to guilt you into staying with her. Can you imagine how bad it would be if you did marry her?

I would tell her that you would prefer to only be friends because any serious relationship at this point is useless. If she can't honor this decision, which I believe would be a fair one, then tell her that you would not want to see her again.
