I have been big,if not over weight all my life & now I AM overweight due to being disabled & in pain .Not able to get around like I used to.No diets work! Not even starving.I used to lose 5 or 10 lbs.fast by eating very little when I was younger, but now I just get bigger every year!
My docs & family think I just sit around & eat & I can't make them see otherwise!

They all need to realize that a large part of your weight issue is genetic. I suggest that you find a different doctor. Most competent doctors realize that genetics play a major factor in weight, and being overweight is not necessarily your fault. I also suggest that you keep a food diary, and take it to your new doctor. This will show that you are making a direct effort to control what you eat.

The key to success is consistency. The slower your anti-fat genes are the more you need to put more effort at it.

Try reducing the portions you eat. I'm not kidding you! I kept a food journal because my trainer asked me to. I thought I was eating 1700 calories and couldn't understand why for the life of mine I couldn't lose those few pounds I wanted to lose, it turned out my intake was around 2400 calories, 700 of which I was unaware of.

Fact is, most of us don't know anything about food composition and calories! So we have no clue about the calories we eat and we think we are doing our best without results while most often this is not the case.

So the second suggestion I have after the food journal is, read the labels of your food and act accordingly (ie: size down your portions, spread your calories during the day to avoid feeling hungry, know how to choose foods when you eat out or simply are at the market).

Third and final suggestion: your eating "very little" now doesn't work for a precise reason. Now you are bigger so your basal metabolic rate is higher. So if you eat very little food the way you did when you were younger and tinier, your body will go in starvation mode and will NOT lose weight. So eat more than that "very little" but more often so to speed your metabolism up.

Good luck!

One thing is certain, If you do not put it into your mouth, it will not show up on your hips!

You do not have to exercise, just shut you mouth! OK, drink water every time you think that you are hungry!
