I was accused of taking it out of context, called an idiot and was assured that I did not understand what I was reading.

I apologize for my error. Reading the Bible does not seem to satisfy some of you Christians.

What does the last verse mean? "He abides in us by the spirit"??

And this is how we know he lives in us: We know by the Spirit he gave us.--1 John 3:24b

Along with the previous verses, it means that the Spirit of God testifies in our spirit that we are in Christ, if in fact we are in him.

I didn't see what you'd posted that led people to call you an idiot, but I'm sorry they did. It only shows their lack of the Christian quality of compassion for people's perceived lack of understanding. As far as the last verse is concerned, to me it means that Christ dwells in each of us through the acceptance of God's salvation plan and His sacrifice on the Cross. His spirit is what is supposed to lead true Christians in their daily lives in all aspects, though judging from your comments on your treatment by some people, there's a certain lacking there!

Sorry for the attacks you got, bootz. I tried to answer you best I could.

When it says "He abides in us by the spirit" well it means the Holy spirit lives inside the hearts of true repentant believers. (not those who just say I am Christian)

This is the Fulfillment of John 14: 15-17

Blessings in 2007

I am sorry that you are having such bad experiences here. This book is written by the annointed to the annointed and it refers to the holy spirit which was granted to dwell in them after Jesus presented the value of his perfect human life to his Father in heaven. It is a constant link between them and Jesus and like Jesus, when it is used, it is also replaced automatically, whereas, those of us (myself included) who are not annointed with holy spirit can ask for it and receive it by praying for it, we do not just automatically get it. A little wordy--but I hope it's clear.
