I did just that for about 3 months. I was severely depressed and I decided that no one could help me (sort of true) so there was no longer any reason to talk to anyone. My friends just started to annoy me because I wasn't interested in anything they had to say anymore. It just seemed like a waste of my time. I didn't care about listening to other people talk about themselves. I stopped answering my phone and I only spoke to my boyfriend. I eventually drove him crazy so he broke up with me. Then I had no one. By then, my friends had stopped calling me because they knew I never answered my phone. Of course, that made me mad and I decided they were all jerks and I hated them because they never called.

When you feel like isolating yourself completely, there's usually something going on with you that's not 'right'. Sometimes you'll get over it in a few days or weeks and you'll be fine. Maybe you just need some time to yourself. If you find that it continues for months at a time and you're world gets smaller and smaller, it may be a symptom of more serious depression. If you're choosing to not talk to anyone yet you feel lonely, you should probably make a doctor's appointment and talk about it a little. I ended up on 2 kinds of medication and I actually WANT to talk to a few people now.
