that happens to me a lot specially if the headbands are hard plastics. what i found out is if you get those cloth bands that go around your head, they don't hurt. actually, i prefer them to be a little loose on my head so it does not press hard around my head. i can't really use anything tight on my head as the pain goes all the way down my neck and back. some people are more sensitive around their head areas, i guess. i know i am.
instead of using a headband right now, just wet your hair back, comb it smoothly behind your ears and let your bangs hang down. you can also let little whisp of hair hang infront of your ears so it looks natural. you can do this until your hair gets to a stage that you can clip it on both sides which will be in no time at all.
later on use those clamp clips and gather your hair right about your ears and put one clip on each side of your head and let your bangs down or comb it on the sides as by that time you bangs will be longer unless you just keep your bangs short and let it frame your face. if you wear glasses or love to use sunglasses, bangs are really cute to have.
anyway, what i mean by clamp clips... they are those plastic hair things that have teeth on two sides and you when you hold the top together and press, the teeth opens up and you can grasp your hair with it. you can buy they anywhere.....in walgreens, walmart, or dollar stores and they come in different sizes and colors.
when your hair gets a little longer you can gather all your hair above your ears towards the back top of your head and clamp it with a larger clip. by that time you can ponytail it and let little whisp of hair hang loosely around your neck.
your hair will grow about 6 inches a year and though that does not seem much, it is really a lot of growth. 6 inches makes the length of your hair down to your shoulders!
by summer your hair ought to be quite long already. then you can get a scarf, roll it a few times and wrap it around your head under the back of your hair on your neck. then tie a knot on the side of your neck and you won't believe how awesome that looks.
i used to have really short hair....one inch all around my head and i got tired of it because i could not do anything to it. it took about a year or so for my hair to go way pass my shoulder but your won't take that long if you can use a headband on it now. you will be surprised how long it will be by summertime.

I don't know, but the same has always happened to me. I haven't ever been able to wear any kind of headband-fabric, elastic, stretchy, plastic, metal, tight, loose-doesn't matter.
I can however, wear barrettes and the rubber-band style, so maybe you could use those.
Also, there is a whole alternative-medicine study out there on Cranaio-Sacral therapy. It is adjusting the skull similarly to how a chiropracter adjusts the spine (but with much less pressure). Maybe you should look into it.

I don't think this should be happening. I only wore them once, and they felt just nice.I never wear them for anything, because they don't suit me :/. Anyway, you just bought a headband that is too small for your head. I think you should go and switch them,or buy a new one. But,you could put cotton behind your ears (and cover it with hair :D) or try to stretch the headbands with your hands. No accessory should give you pain (maybe piercings or tattoos at first, but it should wear out :D),but if it does,it's probably not suit for you ):

Your head may be larger than average. Instead of using a headband that can put the squeeze on ya, go buy some cute scarves, fold them the long way, and tie them under your hair. No pain!!

The band is too tight and is pressing on nerves and causing you headaches. Your scalp hurts because you're making your hair stay in a different direction than it usually goes naturally. Wear a looser band and gently brush your hair only in the new direction.

Because they sit all day on pressure points. Afraid the only thing you can do is take some aleve and deal with it or start wearing bobby pins or scarves to tie it back.

I prefer hair that is shoulder length or longer, And also since that men who like females are more often then not directly, they like long hair because this looks more feminine, as most men have short hair.
