I've liked this guy from another school for nearly a year; the problem is that when I first liked him a close friend told his girlfriend (who I didn't know was his girlfriend at the time). Anyway I found out that he had a girl so I backed off but she still kept intimidating me (we are from the same school) and she kept asking me "Do you like my boyfriend?" over and over again so that she'd get a reaction and sadly I gave her the reaction she wanted; she then used my 'reaction' as ammo to ruin my rep in front of him.
They broke up and I think he has finally seen me in person and I think he likes what he sees, but he's hesitant because (I think) she made me out to be a witch and he is also the coolest person in his school and maybe he doesn't want to date me because I'll damage his rep. Anyway, I thought I'd give it a shot and today I'm going to phone him just to get some clarity. I thought I'd ask him to hang out but if he refuses I'll use the oppourtunity to clear the air. Should I?

By all means ask him out, but NEVER defend yourself from people who maliciously gossip about you.

Why?

Because when you defend or explain yourself it makes you look guilty - or that what they are saying about you is true. Intelligent people will know better and the rest, well, what do you think what they say anyway? They aren't worth it.

Let him see by your actions that you aren't the person she made you out to be.

First of all, I hope you have dumped your two-faced "close" friend with the big f**king mouth!

Secondly, I hope you learned your lesson - Loose lips sink ships. The best kept secrets are the ones you keep to yourself.

Last, you say "maybe he doesn't want to date me because I'll damage his rep" - If that's even in your mind about this guy, you need to run away! How shallow is he?!

Just out of curiosity - why'd they break up? 'Cos she was a psycho-b**ch?!!??? Or did her Kindergarten rep finally catch up with her?

Just start off easy, something like going to the mall and perhaps a movie and you thought you would call and see if he wanted to go with you. Tell him all your friends are busy and can't go so you thought you would ask him. don't push for anything more than just hanging out and if he wants to explore more let him do it rather than try to make him anything more than a friend until he gets to know you better.

I would go for it because im a guy and if i was in his shoes and everything that you said was true then you should be just fine just remember to have confidence in yourself and say what's on your mind and in your heart. Hope this helps and good luck.

Go for it........since your rep is already destroyed you might as well try. If you fail well then u have a completely obliterated rep. Your choice.

if you like him, dont care about stupid reps or pride or any of that retarded stuff. but if things feel awkward because of what someone else has done, maybe you should either wait, or tell it to him like it is...
