There are so many more people in the world today, and we have satellites and stuff so everyone would get to watch the crucifixtion on TV. Wouldn't it have been great to see Jesus rise again live??? More people would have been convinced, and there would be more people turning to Christianity.

Right on. In all god's power, why should he fail to provide us with irrefutable evidence of his own existence?

The famous atheist/philosopher/scientist Bertrund Russell, when asked what he would say if he met god in the afterlife, said, "Sorry god, not enough evidence."

One of the many valid arguments against the existence of god(s) is the fact that any doubt about his/her existence is even possible. Think about it... if you were the all-powerful true god, that thrived on prayer and worship from your createes, why would you allow any of them to be agnostics, atheists, or other religions? You wouldn't, of course.

I think that God chose the time for Jesus to arrive thoughtfully and wisely. I have heard this question lots of times. When Jesus returns to Earth, according to the Bible, everyone will see His coming. When He and the hosts of Heaven arrive His appearing will be a very visible arrival. Luke 21:27 "At that time they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory."
Matthew 24:27 "For as lightning that comes from the east is visible even in the west so will be the coming of the Son of Man."
Matthew 25:31 "When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the angels with Him, He will sit on His throne in Heavenly glory." The first coming as a baby and dying as a sacrifice was not accompanied by sattelite coverage or on the spot reporting with camera's flashing. God the Father must have had a good reason for that beginning at that time. No-one knows when the second coming will be, not Jesus even, only Father God. But you can be sure- the soon and coming King- will return and the whole Earth will know about it. Great power and great Glory. "Come Lord Jesus...come!"

>>>Wouldn't it have been great to see Jesus rise again live??? More people would have been convinced,>>>

That would remove the element of faith, which is vital to accepting Jesus' message.

It would also be the "easy way," but nothing is ever worth it if it's easy.

The most important and worthwhile endeavors in human history have been, in most cases, the most difficult to achieve. Following Christ should be no different.

What you're proposing would make being a Christian too easy -- and thus would cheapen and demean the experience.

Well, first of all, just because people see Jesus doesn't mean that they believe in Him. After all, there were lots of people around Him during His life who saw him but didn't believe in Him; they even crucified him. I'm not sure putting it on TV would solve that problem.

Secondly, He will come again, and everyone will have an opportunity to learn about Him, so it doesn't really matter when He came. But I'm sure that there were really good reasons for Him to come at the time when He came.

Because he had to appear at that time. Daniel 9:24-26 foretells that the Messiah would appear a certain length of time after King Artaxerxes I issued a decree for the Jewish people to go from Persia to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem.

Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice asked exactly this question in the late 60s, in a musical called Jesus Christ Superstar. You might be interested in watching it or listening to the soundtrack. :)

The answer, though, is that Jesus was a product of his time. He was a social activist, reacting to the schisms among the Jews and the Roman occupation of Jewish territory. If he had waited to come until today, it would have been under quite different circumstances; among them, he would not have been crucified.

Well it will be even better to see his second coming live on CNN! Then I guess we'll all know the truth. Seeing is believing in today's day and age. As for me, for all I know the Bible was written to control the populous. We don't want any free speaking now do we? No, we want happy little lambs who have no idea of the impending slaughter. So I'm waiting for 100% proof positive that we are all going to be saved from above on TV. That is what it was made for. To see the coming Messiah.

Even when Jesus rose from the dead, He did not disclose Himself to anyone but His own believers - with the incidental exception of the soldiers who were guarding His tomb.(see I Corinthians 15:1-8) When Jesus spoke to His disciples about His departure into heaven, He told them that it was to their advantage that He leave, otherwise the Holy Spirit would not come. It is the Holy Spirit who discloses the reality of the resurrected Jesus to the believing heart - as Jesus said to Thomas "Because you have seen Me, you have believed. Blessed are they who did not see, and yet believed" (John 20:29)
This is what Jesus said to Mary Magdalene when He appeared to her on resurrection morning, saying "Stop clinging to Me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father" (John 20:17)
Mary wanted the earthly relationship she had to continue, but Jesus was gently telling her that she could not go on knowing Him through His physical presence, but was to enter into a new spiritual relationship with Him, through the Holy Spirit, who would come to reside in her. (See John 14:16-21)
That is what Paul meant when he said: "Therefore from now on we recognize no man according to the flesh (in a natural way); even though we have known Christ according to the flesh, yet now we know Him thus no longer" (II Corinthians 5:16)
People don't believe because they see - they believe because they have a heart affinity toward the Lord Jesus Christ and His Father.

You would have to convert them from another religion to Christianity, not an easy task. Right now the Christians are at the top of the list at
33% of the world.
