It is kind of like the difference between Ford and GM automobiles only with aircraft. Airbus is a manufacturer of commercial aircraft located in Europe. Boeing does the same thing in the USA.

Airline passengers can't see it, but this is the most significant difference between Boeing and Airbus planes.
Dramatic advancements in technology have made it possible for planes built by either manufacturer to be flown by computers from shortly after takeoff through the landing.
But Airbus has taken a much different philosophical approach to using computers than its rival. The European airplane maker designed its new fly-by-wire jets such as the A320 with built-in hard limits, or "protections."
The Boeing Co., on the other hand, believes pilots should have the ultimate say. On Boeing jets, the pilot can override onboard computers and their built-in soft limits.

For one --Airbus is european and Boeing is American..
Other then that there are not alot of similarites. Boeing has been around longer so Airbus planes may be slighty newer overall, but Boeing is coming out with new aircraft all the time. Boeing is the only company to produce a double decker at the moment.

Put simply, what's the difference between a Chrysler and a Renault? Siempre, they're both car manufacturers bearing the same names respectively. Airbus and Boeing are airplane designer, maker and manufacturer/builder. They got different designs of course. Airbus is European while Boeing is American. Ciao!

They both manufacture aircraft. Boeing is based in the United States and is the largest aircraft manufacturer in the world, while Airbus is based in France and is the second largest. They are in direct competition with one another.

Generally speaking, Boeing are heavier, so use more fuel, and tend to be louder because they need stronger engines for greater thrust to take off. Airbus are generally lighter and so use less fuel, and tend to be quieter on take-off.
Of course, the age of each individual aircraft will make my answer redundant. You asked a general question, I gave a general answer. :)
