A zip code is a 5 digit code used by the US postal service to deliver mail. You can find a list of zip codes at www.usps.gov if you're really curious. In California, most zip codes start with a 9....on the East Coast you'll find zip codes that start with lower numbers, even 0.

If the website is asking for this, I would check their shipping policy or faq to see if they even ship outside of the US.

ZIP codes are only used in the US. No other country uses ZIP codes, most have their own postal services South Africa is a large country with lots of separate postal codes, you're going to have to be ever so slightly more specific...
