Having a ticket will NOT prevent you from leaving your state. Who told you that it did?

When you posted bond, you promised to return for the court date - otherwise you forfeit the bond and a warrant will probably be issued for your arrest. You can return from another state, your house, wherever - a foreign country for that matter.

There is a lesson here - do NOT take legal advice from whomever the idiot was that gave you the bogus information about your current ticket.

Wait.. you got a TICKET and can't leave the State? Read it again.. that makes very little sense.

A ticket is simply a citation and notice of hearing... it lets you know what the charges are and tells you when to appear in Court. It MAY tell you you're not allowed to leave the State... but that would only be a temporary thing, until you appear in Court on the charges shown on the ticket.

If you've already been to Court and you're on probation and this is just a short trip you'd like to take, you need to ask your probation officer for permission and they will give you a travel order. And yes, you'll have to tell them when and where you're travelling.

You are not allowed to move your residence out of state without the permission of the probation department (permission granted via the Interstate Compact Agency. It's a huge deal.)

Most of the time, it's better to pay off your fines and get the case converted to Court/Summary Probation.... under which you are not typically prevented from leaving the State.

Make sense?

If you are going out of state (and not driving) and you are going to return before the court date. Then you're SAFE. don't worry about it. Just come back and take care of the fine in a timely manner.

You can write a letter to the court (Judge) regarding your request.

But you'll need a good reason and probably dates when you'll leave and when you'll return. Hey, it's worth a shot.
