I'm glad you are taking a hard look at what you believe.
You said you are "spiritual". If so, where did that spirit come from? Do you believe God created the world and everything in it? If you do, then you must accept that your "common sense" cannot understand everything about God. Isaiah 55:9 -God says
"As the heavens are higher than the earth, My ways are higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts".
Our little brains really can't comprehend miracles like a virgin birth and resurrection, BUT that doesn't mean it is ALL based on faith. You can look closely at the Bible and find that it is TRUTH.
You should probably speak to the pastor/minister of your church about your doubts. It's alright not to understand, no one does, completely; But don't disbelieve just because it doesn't make "sense" to you.

You say that you have "...the same values that other church goers have." I assume you mean, "good" values that are often associated with Christians, but not necessarily so. Jesus, & ALL the other things you mentioned, are the very BASICS of their "faith." I wonder then, why you go? Would it not be enough to live your life practicing these values, since in a sense, you ARE being a hypocrite--certainly to any Christian you would be. There are far more acceptable beliefs & concepts. Perhaps you should look into them & discover what feels right to YOU. It does not even have to be a "religion." I, too, am spiritual, but spirituality is not synnomous with RELIGION. Many conflicting tales have been told by many prophets over time, who had disagreements among themselves. Does this make you wonder if you're in the "best place" for your spirit?
Edit: Someone seemed to think you needed to be convinced that Jesus was "real;" I didn't see that anywhere in your question. Of course he was real, & he was an extraordinary man. As many have been, & are. It's curious to me, that many believe--when something "good" happens to them, it's because of God. What do they think when something "bad" happens? As well as, people "go to God" when in trouble; do they ask him for joy? There are so many attempts made here to assure you that all you have to do is have blind faith & open your heart. I see you as someone who sincerely CANNOT accept the myths, & that perhaps it's best to move on. I think it was "buffy" who said something about being true to yourself. I'd consider that a very wise decision.

One of the obstacles you have to overcome is that common sense won't let you believe any of what Jesus did; none of it makes logical sense. Jesus healed many people just by touching them or saying a word, which opposes all logical thinking in our brains. You just have to believe, and there's no other way to do it. Since you asked, I believe it because the Bible says that all of this happened--it says Jesus was born of a virgin and that he rose from the dead--and I believe the Bible to be true. I also believe that the only way to get to heaven is putting your faith in Jesus Christ and trusting Him alone. I don't know if I can offer you any more advice, but I'll say this one last thing. Sometimes you just gotta have faith. I don't know if you've seen the last Indiana Jones movie, but there's a part where he's supposed to walk out into this huge chasm. He can't see a bridge or anything, only the long drop below him. Finally, he simply puts a foot forward and hopes to hit something solid, and he does; the bridge is made out of finely polished glass, and his faith paid off. This is one of those times where you have to take a step of faith.

Believing in God does not mean checking your brain at the door. I do believe in the immaculate conception [virgin birth for the protestants out there] and the Easter thing. I also have more years of education than I care to count. That's not pride, it's meant to indicate that knowledge and God are not incompatible. I greatly enjoy science and to me the wonders of this world indicate a marvelous Creator who obviously has more brains than I do. Explaining why I believe as I do would take pages, so consider this...most people do not realize but the apostle Paul was an academic in his day. As a member of the wealthier class, he would have had the finest education available. And yet he is also the greatest missionary that has ever lived. God does not reject you for your questions, just as he did not reject Thomas. He would say to you come and learn. You might be interested in the study of Christian apologetics. It is a reasoned, logical approach to finding answers in Christianity. The resources abound and I think you'll find God is interested not just in your heart but your mind also.

One thing that helped me (I went thru a similar period) was reading Roman history by a Roman of those days and finding a passage mentioning Jesus and the Crucifixion. After some study I found numerous places he is mentioned in Roman Secular writings. The included remarks
about him, Christians, and the Crucifixion. I felt that if the Roman historians were mentioning him then he must have really been there. Which makes him real.

Happy you are searching,I am not sure i can help.I will tell you the whole truth in my life,I am honest to a fault.I might say i grew up with Jesus, as a young child my mother could lay hands on and heal,I saw miracles tumors vanish etc. doctors were baffled. My
mom always told me it was not Her but God. at 11 I began reading Bible with Her.Jesus appeared in Her apartment, and remained there two days while entire family came to view this.
without enough space to tell it all, since then Holy Angels saved me from death 4 times.Jesus came to me at age 18 and brought
a miracle. If it were blind faith or reading I would most likely have doubts.I can only hope Jesus shows Himself to You. Keep on
looking!!!!!!!!

For me, I had alot of problems until I really took in accurate knowledge of God and Jesus. Also, it helped understanding what God's plan was for the earth and man. Do you even know what the theme of the Bible is? I am sure I can help but I have to know what you already know. E-mail me with more specifics.

This is your journey in proclaiming Jesus as your own savior. Like most journies, there are distractions and interference, such as doubting, which you are experiencing right now. This is normal, so it's okay. Even the most 'devout' christian experienced doubt before. Just think of this as a stage, BUT, you have to get out of it. Your path with God is just like growing up. Sooner or later you will see the glory of Jesus Christ. Jesus is waiting and reaching out his arms to you, all you have to do is go to him. Pray. Prayer is very powerful. Pray and read the bible, because the bible is our conversation with the Lord.

It is very commendable of you to admit your doubts as you do. one of your answerers said not to seek Him, that He will find you. I know she means well, but I would urge you to indeed seek Him . The bible says , "...seek and you will find. Knock and the door will be opened unto you." Please don't stop seeking Him, and you WILL find Him. Then you will be even more gratified when you finally come to a realization of who this wonderful person is. I earnestly pray for God's blessings upon you and all that is dear to you. Have a very happy new year in Christ.

this is hard to explain and hard to make someone believe.
i was raised christian but had a hard time with god a few years back (around 2000-2003).
i found a church in my area and decided to start attending again. after about a month i decided to accept jesus into my life again and basically handed the "keys" of my life over to him without hesitating or asking questions. i figured my life couldn't get any worse and he knew what was best.
it was the best decision of my life-within days, my whole life changed and everything fell into place. my job got better, i was confident with my finances, my relationship with my boyfriend improved, and i became the best mom i've been in years (i have 3 kids)
sometimes you just have to take that leap off the high rise, knowing that god will be the net below to catch you. i too had my doubts that things would change if i let god into my life, but they did and 10 times more than i ever imagined.
sometimes, the smallest change in your life might not make any sense to you, but if you know god and have accepted him-you'll get it.....
