There are many such words because English incorporates words not only from Spanish, but from many different languages. Example: The Spanish word: "Rodeo" is spelled the same way but pronounced differently and has the same basic meaning in both languages.

Where do you think we got the expression:"Ten Gallon Hat" from? Señoritas at the local Saturday night dance referring to a cowboy's hat as: "¡Un sombrero tan galan!" Which literally means: "Such an elegant hat!"

The expression: "Lasso that desperado and take him to the hoosegow" come from the Spanish phrase: "Lassa ese deseperado y llebalo al jusgado" which translates: "Rope that desperado and take him to the magistrate (or judge)."

The list is pretty endless.
