Yes. If you buy a 720p now, you're going to kick yourself in a year when 1080p units cost the same as 720ps do now.

You'll be darn lucky to find a 1080 plasma unit without spending beaucoup (bookoo) bucks.....

IF you're in the USA use this website, because they show right up front the NATIVE RESOLUTION of every TV they sell.....

Yeah, you may have to buy a 1080P to get a true 1080 NATIVE RESOLUTION display!!

But I bought a Hitachi 51F59 Projection with TRUE 1080i Native...
Because that is what 99.9 % of what I actually >>watch<< is broadcast in......

And I used the BEST BUY website to quickly find out which TV displayed 1080......

BTW>>>GP4RTS's<<< info is incorrect......IT DISPLAYS 1080 LINES NO MATTER WHAT HE SAYS....
But.....1080i Splits ONE WHOLE FRAME into an INTERLACED picture and displays it twice as fast as a frame....
This improves "jaggies" in FAST ACTION because of "persistance of vision" that our eyes have....

1080P has the same amount of lines as 1080i has......
It also has the same 30 Frames a second in BOTH units.....

And the TV stores put the 1080P units on the Hi Def DVDs, but setup the 1080i units on Standard Definition Signal.....that's so you'll buy the most expensive TV sets!

Yes, if you can find it and afford it. 1080p is now common in both projection and flat screen LCD displays, and they cost less than plasmas. Be aware: some plasmas are not 1080p but 1080i: they display 540 lines in alternate fields (I believe Hitachi makes such a plasma, and they do call it 1080i). There are true 1080p plasmas coming out, however.
